School Stamping

My kids start school tomorrow morning. I decided this morning that I needed to make my daughter's elementary school teachers a small gift for the first day of school. Since I am SO excited about my new bind it all, I made them each a little notebook. :)
I will go into detail during a later post about HOW to use a bind it all as well as some useful tips. :)
Yes, I sewed on the front panels of the notebooks. LOL I simply can't stop. It is WAY easier than faux stitching and I just love the way it looks. I hope you are not getting bored with it. LOL
I used Infuse patterned paper from Basic Grey for the front panel and for covering the chipboard letter. I used my WONDERFUL new Heidi Swapp clear flowers (Thank you Marlene) and finished them off with a simple RSVP pen with matching paper rolled and inserted inside. It was a quickish and easy project to make and the girls will enjoy having something to greet their teachers with.
On Bailey's school supply list, she needed a clipboard. As soon as she saw the word clipboard she asked me if I could decorate one for her. :) That's my girl! LOL Of course I HAD to do it. :) Her favorite patterned paper is Blush by Basic Grey. She knows it by name and can point out cards in the gallery that have used it. LOL She even has a 6 X 6 Blush pad of paper that she bought at the LSS. :) I made the clipboard very flat without embellishments on the writing surface since I think they will actually be USING it for it's intended purpose. LOL I didn't want anything to interfere with her school work, so beside the ribbon tied to the clip, there is no frill on it. LOL She loves it and is excited to use it. :)
Have a wonderful day and I hope all you other Moms that have kids going back to school tomorrow have a smooth and happy morning. :) I am hoping for smiles and no tears! (that includes my hubby and I LOL)

Guess What I am Doing Tonight?

I am cutting ribbon! I got a shipment tonight and I am trying to finish ASAP so I can send out more ribbon tomorrow. :)

I am waiting now on one more shipment which has not yet been shipped out to me, but it has been ordered. :)

Off for more cutting!

Thanks to all who joined!

I am now sold out of: stitched stripes, white stripes and new dots. I have the other types available still, but they are going fast. E-mail me if you would like to claim any of the leftover ribbon. :)

Like Coffee?

This is totally NOT stamping related, but I thought I would share it with you anyway. :)

Over a month ago my local friend sent me a link to a survey for Senseo coffee makers. I took the survey and several days later received an offer to get the $70 Senseo coffee maker for free, BUT I had to pay $15 shipping. Since she told me it was legit, I paypaled the money and sure enough about a week later I had my free $70 coffee maker. :) YAY for almost free stuff. LOL

So, today I got an e-mail that said I could pass on the offer to my friends and family. That is YOU! :) I can say this is legit, so go for it. :) If you want the chance to qualify for the free coffee maker, click on the link, answer the survey and hopefully you can get your $70 coffee maker for $15 in shipping. :) FYI, I don't benefit in any way. I am just passing along the great deal! :)

Here is the info copy/pasted from Senseo:

More Le Jardin Cards!

Here are three more cards I made with the new Le Jardin patterned paper from Stampin' Up! Of course they all have sewing on them. LOL I'm sorry... I love my little Janome, what can I say? LOL
I had a question about the stamp sets and card stocks used for the elegant Le Jardin cards, so here is a list of my supplies for these 3 cards and the 3 prior cards that are part of this "set".
Stamp Sets: Stem Silhouettes, En Francais, Baroque, Short and Sweet, French Flair, Baroque Motifs, Brocade Basics, Define Your Life
Ink: chocolate chip, always artichoke, whisper white craft, so saffron, chocolate chip craft, versamark (Stampin Up)
Card Stock: chocolate chip, whisper white, saffron, brocade blue, bordering blue (Stampin Up)
Patterned Paper: Le Jardin (Stampin Up)
Accessories: may arts polka dot ribbon, swarovski crystals, thread, sewing machine, Taffeta ribbon (stampin up), wide organdy ribbon (retired-Stampin Up), Dazzling Diamonds glitter
I normally choose a paper pack, ribbon, or a general color scheme and make at least 2 or 3 cards in that "theme". While I have all the colors out, I might as well make more than one. It is the efficient thing to do. LOL I almost *never* make the same card twice though. I get bored with assembly line stamping, so I usually make one and then move on to the next. You'll be amazed at how many DIFFERENT cards you can crank out using the same sets of stamps, papers, and embellishments.
I hope you have a wonderful day! :)

Le Jardin Cards

Here are some cards I made with the new Le Jardin paper pack from Stampin Up! I was in an "elegant mood" and adorned these cards in elegant ribbon, jewels, glitter, sponging and lots of sewing. The night that I made these cards was actually the first time I had actually sewn on a card. LOL I had practiced a little on scrap card stock, but this time I actually sewed on stamped pieces. It was my goal the night I made these cards to sew on every one of them with my new little Janome sewing machine.
Speaking of... I LOVE that little sewing machine. Seriously... you need one. If I can use it, anyone can. LOL

I Have Been TANGLED in Ribbon!

I spent the last MANY hours boxing and addressing ribbon. :) YAY! On Monday a large shipment will go out! I have sent an e-mail to everyone that has ribbon being shipped out on Monday. Watch your mailboxes mid week for some happy mail! :)

Another May Arts shipment is currently on its way to me. The final order for the August ribbon share will be placed on Monday. PLEASE sign up by Sunday night for guaranteed spots in any of the choices. Again, only the new colors organdy is unavailable, BUT all 4 colors are included in the 16 color pack of polka dot organdy.

My Right Arm Hurts

Why? I have spent many hours this past couple days cutting ribbon. LOL ALL of the May Arts ribbon I got in the latest shipment is now CUT! It's a sad state of affairs when your arms hurts from using a yard stick huh? LOL
I should have all of it boxed and ready to go out by Monday! I can hear the postal workers grumbling already. ;)
The picture doesn't show all of the ribbon. There is some next to it AND there is another shipment on the way. EEK! LOL
The last shipment of ribbon was shipped out to me today. I expect to have it by next Friday and will cut that immediately. That will cover *almost* all the current orders. I will be placing one last order on Monday after allowing for last minute sign ups. If you are interested in this share, PLEASE sign up by Sunday evening. :)
Have a great night! :)

High School Musical Time!

My girls have been SO excited about tonight! What is tonight you ask? High School Musical Time of course! If you have a youngish daughter, you know what I mean! This is not only a show... it is a HUGE deal. A made for TV movie that is hugely popular!

My 7 year old daughter Madeline went to the High School Musical website a week ago and started printing out things and making a list. When I asked her what she was doing, she let me know that she was planning a High School Musical party and let me know all the things we needed:

red carpet
kid pack boxes for snacks (like at the movies)
frames (to take a picture of each guest as they arrive)
snacks
poster
I chuckled to myself and then started making mental notes. :) After all, I aim to please! LOL I thought it was a really cute idea and set out planning. The girls wanted to invited Kieley and Kelsey. They are the daughters of a great friend of mine, Dora. :) Of COURSE they had to say yes. It was the IT party of the year (plus they were the only invitees LOL).
Earlier this week I went to a movie theater and asked to speak to a manager. I explained my daughter's plan and asked (with puppy dog eyes) for 5 kid pack movie boxes. She gladly handed them over and I was SO grateful. Then, I went and found a red rug from Walmart, bought the soundtrack (for mood setting LOL), got some snacks and goodies the girls could take home with them.

First up was the red carpet. Each girl had to check in so we could make sure she was on the guest list. The door men let them in one at a time and issued them $15 in movie cash. They strutted their stuff down the red carpet while paparazzi shot pictures. :)

Then it was inside for craft time! There were 2 projects for each girl to make. One of them was a notebook made with the bind-it-all. (side note-YES I fell victim to the bind-it-all, but I will tell you about that another day). I printed out some cute paper from http://tv.disney.go.com/disneychannel/originalmovies/highschoolmusical2/ . I had some cut mat board for the back piece, the covers were to cut to size and I also had some copy paper cut for the inside of the notebooks. After a quick tutorial, they each made their OWN High School Musical notebook. I gave them each a pencil to match. :) Then, I had prepped some picture frames from the same web site above. The sample was made by my husband. He used his Simpsonized avatar picture and actually stamped his own name! LOL The girls enjoyed this project! Each of them were hounded by paparazzi on the red carpet and those are the pictures we used in their frames to commemorate the fun evening!

After craft time, they ate some yummy pizza. They had the choice of milk or water since the concession stand hadn't opened yet.

After Pizza, they went out to play with my son and his friend. They all played hide and go seek and had a great time.
9 pm was showtime. My husband popped the popcorn and the concession stand opened 5 minutes before showtime. The girls each purchased a kid pack box filled with popcorn, a drink and some sour punch twists. Squirt is the drink of choice for all 4 of them and each was finished off with a sour punch straw they can drink through. :) Kelsey and Kieley also purchased a High School Musical soundtrack each. :) I was surprised they haven't asked for any of the TEN boxes of "movie candy" I bought. LOL Maybe later. :)

I am sitting over here smiling from ear to ear knowing that they all are having a great time and enjoying their movie! I even had a few happy tears. LOL (those of you who know me KNOW I am sentimental)

They are SO quiet over there! I can only hear the crunching of their munchies and an occasional giggle. :)

Back to being a concession stand worker. I think they may be ready for refills. :)

Have a GREAT night!

Ribbon Share Updates

Hi all! :)

I sent out several packages of 5/8 inch only grosgrain as well as the full shares of solid grosgrain today. YAY

I sent out an e-mail to each person that I shipped to today.

I also got 2 LARGE boxes of May Arts today. I have it unpacked and will be begin cutting it tonight. The orders will go out in the order in which you joined. :)

I have another May Arts order in (placed Sunday night) and am waiting for that to be shipped.

There are a few of you who have not paid. You only have a few more days to get payment to me or I will have no choice but to give away your spot.

I do have a few more spots in most types of ribbon available still. :)

Off to get tangled...

Boating Fun

Have you noticed I play with one set for quite a bit and then move on to the next? LOL

Here is another "set" of cards I made last week.

I am LOVING this little boat. I am not much for coloring, but this is an easy image to color. :) Thank goodness! LOL The set is called Boatloads of Love! Awwwwwwwwww!

I used the new level 1 scrappin kit by Stampin Up for these cards.

Have a great day!

Just a Couple Cards

Here are 2 more cards I made with the new set from SU called True Friend. I love the set. It goes right along with the boho line and the western sets I love so much. :)
Of course I had to sew on the cards. :) I just can't enough of that sewing machine. It is SO darn cute! :)

I am a Pretend Seamstress!

My daughters have cheerleading camp this week. It is a camp put on by high school cheerleaders. My SIL is the cheer coach and asked them to go for the 2nd time. It starts today and runs through Friday. I talked to her (SIL) the other day and she told me that it was 50s themed. Because I now have a mini sewing machine I decided that I would be able to make them mini poodle skirts. LMBO! I thought it would be cute to make a cheer type skirt, but a poodle skirt complete with a little poodle. I didn't have a pattern, so I studied one of my daughters skirts with an elastic waistband in it and used the trial and error method. I am amazed the finished product even LOOKS like a skirt. LOL It was a tad ambitious, but as long as you don't look too closely, I think the skirts came out cute. I made them out of felt, elastic, a premade applique and pink thread. :)
On the left is my 7 year old and on the right is my almost 10 year old. I also made a matching skirt for their friend who is going with them, but I didn't want to post a pic of her without asking her Mom first. :)
My SIL picked them up just a little while ago. I hope they have fun! Now, since I was up until 4 am finishing their "costumes" perhaps I should go to bed. LOL
Have a GREAT day!

Moose You!

I have been hearing mixed reviews of the new set by SU, "Moose You". I have to say I think it is cute! :) I used it for the first time on Sunday and made these 4 cards with it.
Have a great day!

True Friend

I received my Stampin Up pre-order last week and was so excited about this new set. I absolutely love it. Here is a card I made today with my new set and my new sewing machine. Have I mentioned that I LOVE my new sewing machine? :)

I have LOTS of cards to share so stay tuned for more this coming week!

I Have Been Enabled!

Look at my new toy!

Earlier this month, I read a post by Cambria Turnbow about a mini sewing machine. It was on sale *and* she provided a free shipping code. PLUS she had been making totally cute cards using the sewing machine. I am SUCH an easy target!

It was late, I was bored and I have always loved faux stitching so why not the real deal?

As fast as you can say "submit" I had ordered it!

When it arrived the other day, I grabbed the manual and became familiar with my new toy. I have NO idea how to sew so it was an adventure. LOL I read the directions and followed the easy step by step directions on how to set it up. BINGO! I had it ready to go within about 30 minutes (I was reading VERY slowly to be sure I was doing it right).

As soon as it was set up I grabbed some scrap card stock and started sewing. I tried out all the different stitches and determined my favorites. I practiced sewing in lines, backwards, and around squares and rectangles. Much to my surprise (and my hubby's) I actually was ok at it. LOL

So... thank you Cambria! No buyer's remorse for me. If I had to do it all over again I would do it SOONER. I love sewing on my cards. My only hope is that my poor white gel pen doesn't get too lonely. I *may* be using it a bit less. LOL

Please expect to see lots of stitching in my future. I am in love with it right now and am just a tad *obsessive*! LOL

Here is the enabling post:

Photographing Cards

I started out using a flat bed scanner way back when I started uploading cards on SCS. That method was about as effective as my cards were cute. (not at all BTW) LOL

I then upgraded to a digital camera and a chair with a white towel draped over it. I even got fancy occasionally and used a brown towel instead. You must have a variety of back drops you know? LOL I placed the chair facing my back doors and sat against the doors on the floor to take the photos. This had to be done during the day to get good lighting.

Then, I decided to change methods again. The chair with the towel then got placed on top of my kitchen table under a light. Then I could take pictures at night. WOOHOO. AND I could stand instead of sitting on the floor.

WELL... I have upgraded once again. :) YAY I got a little light box. I have been wanting one for a long time, but couldn't justify buying one for $150. A friend of mine, Dorinda, found one on Ebay for $45 plus $15 shipping and shared the link with me. I decided to go ahead and get it so I didn't have to deal with the chair... or the towel EVER AGAIN. LOL I have it all set up and love the improvement of the quality of pictures I can take. :) The light box is a little flimsy and there are probably many that are better, but for $60 I am very satisfied. It stores pretty flat, assemble pretty easily and comes with lights and 4 different back drops (not towels... REAL back drops LOL)

Here is the link if you are interested in the light box. I have no affiliation. :)

ETA: A reader posted a comment that these are available at WalMart, but have only 2 backdrops. I haven't seen them there, but it's worth checking out to save on shipping. :)

Ribbon Share Updates

Hi all! Just a few updates:

1.) The final shipment of grosgrain has arrived. It was missing 2 spools of 5/8 inch ribbon. Instead of waiting for the manufacturer to send me the missing ribbon, I am sending the share as is with 19 colors of 5/8 inch instead of 20. I will be sticking a $1 bill in each box to cover the cost of the ribbon. So... when your box comes... use the dollar to buy a coke to drink while you are drooling over your ribbon. :) Sound good? LOL

2.) I have finished cutting all the solid grosgrain and will be shipping all grosgrain ribbon only shares no later than Wednesday of this week. :) YAY

3.) I am expecting the next shipment of May Arts anytime now. I am thinking it will be here early this coming week. Then, I will be cutting like crazy. I will ship it out as soon as I can after I have received it. Those of you with solid shares also are now waiting for this ribbon to arrive and be cut so I can ship it all together.

4.) I placed the last May Arts order tonight for the August share. Once the rest of the share spots that are available fill, the share will be closed. I will post updates on that as needed. Right now, I have very few spots left.

Please e-mail me at texasjodylynn@yahoo.com if you have any questions or need help with anything. :)

Thank you all so much for joining.

Have a GREAT night!

My Sweet Madeline!

The other day I was stamping and my cutie 7 year old asked if she could stamp also. I asked her what she wanted to stamp and she asked for a "sample" to copy. LOL So, I went through some recent RAKs I had received and found one that was perfect for her!

The card was sent to me by Janice Keys! The card is REALLY cute and Maddie had a stamp set that she could substitute and still copy the card well. :)

This is what she came up with. :) She copied it right down to the patterned paper and ribbon! I give her free reign with my paper scraps and my ribbon (yes, REALLY lol). I cringed a little when she chose my pretty pink, velvet ribbon but that is what she wanted so I kept my mouth shut. LOL She wrapped the ribbon all the way around the card, so it doesn't open, but is oh so cute. She even cut a piece of card stock to cover up the tape marks on the back of her card. That's my girl! :) Very detail oriented! LOL
I just wanted to share my little stamper's card with you all. :) And thank you Janice Keys for your inspiration. :)
Have a wonderful day!

May Arts Mania and an update...

WHEW! I have had a VERY busy past 24 hours. LOL The in-hand ribbon sold out very quickly! I have already placed another order for more May Arts ribbon. It will ship out to me in the next couple days and once I receive it I will get busy cutting and shipping. :)

Today I am mailing out more than half of the solid grosgrain shares. I stayed up until about 3 am packing those up. :) I am still waiting on one shipment of solid grosgrain to arrive and then I can get the rest of them out.

Many of you who added on May Arts will need to wait a little longer for your grosgrain since I sold out of the May Arts so quickly.

At this point I have e-mailed everyone back, cut everything I can cut and have boxed and will ship everything that can ship. Now, I am just waiting for more shipments. :) YAY

I still have spots available in the 5/8 inch grosgrain share (very few) and the May Arts August share! If you are in a current solid grosgrain share, please contact me prior to adding on since your package may have shipped already.

Thanks as always and have a wonderful day!

My Ribbon Storage

I have been asked a lot about my ribbon storage. I started out very good and wrapped all my solid 1/4 grosgrain on cards and put them into cropper hopper drawers. I love how it looks! It is organized, easy to see at a glance and contained. The problem for me though is that I have SO much ribbon that I got tired of winding it. I found that I had to open multiple drawers to find what I wanted and they are not see through. Check out the picture below to show that storage system. Oh... and please note the chocolate next to the drawers. That is right inside the entry way so I can grab one on the way in if I need some stamping energy! LOL

I have found a great solution for me. I have been using plastic drawer systems that I purchase at Walmart. The great benefit is that the drawers are see through so I can see at a glance what I am looking for and open the drawer. I literally throw my bundles of ribbon in a drawer now. No wrapping, no organizing. For the most part I have one drawer per type of ribbon. I can dig through a little to find the color I want. LOL Occasionally it takes me a while to find the "tail" of ribbon so I can cut a piece off, but it hasn't been a major issue. Another great benefit is I can remove the drawer and take it to my stamp table. I haven't noticed any major wrinkling in my ribbon either. :) I *try* not to stuff the drawers full, but sometimes that can't be helped. After all... ribbon... I can never have too much of it! LOL I have a few drawer systems that are "deep" for my solid grosgrain and ribbons I have more of. The majority of my drawers though are the 8 1/2 X 11 systems that have 3 drawers in them. I find this is plenty of space to hold all my May Arts ribbon. Below is a picture of my drawer with 5/8 inch grosgrain, polka dot grosgrain and polka dot organdy. Hmmmm, what is that in the top drawer? I *think* I see 4 new colors of polka dot organdy:)

The next picture is some of my NEWEST May Arts ribbon. WOW, look at all those stripes and that sparkle! OH and WAIT! I see zig zag too! :) Again, it is one drawer per type. (except in the top drawer you can see 2 different ribbons) I just throw it in there. A great benefit to this is you can keep building vertically in a smallish space. You are only limited by your ceiling height (and I must say I am close) LMBO!

Finally, I will show you my 1/4 inch grosgrain drawer. YES, it is terribly messy, but I always find what I need and I can dig through like the wild ribbon woman I am! LOL See any wrinkles? Told ya! LOL

So go ahead... be messy! It's fun to run your fingers through all that wonderful ribbon! :)
