Glittered Silhouette

I have to say that I LOVE LOVE LOVE this new set by Stampin' Up called Essence of Love. Seriously, this is an AWESOME stamp set! The stamped image is just SO beautiful!

Again, I used my Bind It All and coasters to make this notebook. The notebook uses the new patterned paper by SU called Afternoon Tea! I love it! This was super simple to make. I stamped the image directly on patterned paper with chocolate craft ink. Then, I covered the whole piece of patterned paper with Versamark ink and embossed with iridescent ice embossing powder. I roughed up the edges, stitched the edges and slapped it on the cover of the notebook with dimensionals. I added a simple stack of Prima flowers with a Swarovski crystal in the center to jazz it up a bit.

I have even more projects to share with you all very soon! I still haven't posted all the projects I made while my friends were here. :)

Have a great day and happy stamping! :)

COOL!

Look what I just saw while browsing Geeta's blog?

An online Michaels coupon! YAY!

My Basket Tutorial

After making the basket following Laura's tutorial, I was inspired to try to make one of my own that would be user friendly for the ladies at the LSS. I taught a class yesterday and was determined to make a basket that would fit within the time frame of the class. I had a class of 11 and the ladies were able to complete the basket in about 2 hours, 15 minutes.

The entire tutorial for the basket is typed out on the pictures. I thought it would be easier to follow in that format. The basket is easy to make and would be perfect for Easter treats! I would love to see yours, so if you upload to your blog or gallery, please link it in the comment section of this post. :)

I recommend using red line tape for the basket. A textured, heavyweight card stock works best.

I hope you enjoy the tutorial. If you have any questions, please leave a comment and make sure to leave your e-mail address. :)

Happy "box" weaving!

History of Ribbon

I got a comment (question) a while back and finally had time to do some research. Here was the comment:

Robb_eeie has left a new comment on your post "Ric Rac Salad":

I adore your Ric Rac Salad :) What a wonderful way to present this gift ~ just displays even more, how much you care about this person :) And of course, I have to tell you, the colours of this Ric Rac ~~!!ROCKS!!~~ -{smile}-

OK Jody, now for my **Skill Testing Question** ! haaa Since you are the ~**RIBBON QUEEN**~, ((bowing to the Queen)) perhaps you could enlighten me as to why they call this ribbon, "Ric Rac"? Now stop your laughing and snickering, (LOL) but I'm always curious about stuff like this, especially if there is a history behind it. And since I too, L*O*V*E ribbon, I'm curious if you know the background of this "Ric Rac" product? And if for some WACKO-Weird reason you don't, then please do not waste a second thinking about it. :) Afterall, you'll soon be buried in Primas, and will need more hours then are in a day to count, pack and ship those babies!!! You are one crazy chic Miss Jody, but as I've said before, one with a huge, kind and generous heart :D

And here is my response to you: :)

First of all, thank you so much for the sweet comments. :) You are REALLY sweet! :) In case you are wondering, the person I sent the Ric Rac salad to loved it. :) YAY!

Now I am not sure where ric rac comes from, but I thought you might enjoy knowing the history of ribbon, so here is some interesting info I found in my search to answer your question:

http://www.madehow.com/Volume-3/Ribbon.html

Hope that *kinda* answers your question. :)

Basket Full of Fun!

The other day, I was browsing the SCS gallery and saw the CUTEST basket. It looked so realistic and CUTE! I followed the link to Laura Canale's blog and found her tutorial.

This is the basket I made using her tutorial. I used Stampin' Up textured card stock in close to cocoa for the basket portion and polished it off with some twill and brads.

While my friends were here last weekend, I decided I would teach them how to make the basket. Let's just say they were NOT pleased. One of my funny friends walked away. She said, "you finish it". LOL The basket can be a little frustrating if your measurements are off, OR you don't weave tightly enough, OR of you weave too tightly. LOL BUT, I still think it's adorable so if you are feeling brave follow the link above to the tutorial and give it a shot. :)

You Mean Everything

Some great friends of mine came to visit last weekend. :) We chatted, stamped, shopped and ate! It was GREAT fun and we had lots of laughs. In between all the silliness we actually got some projects done!

I have been so incredibly busy (and stressed) this past week so even though I INTENDED to start sharing these sooner than this, my tired self couldn't force my "good blogger self" to do it. LOL

Here is project number one. This was a pre-printed Valentine "booklet" by Cosmo Cricket. You simply have to cut along the lines and then put them together somehow. I decided to use my bind it all to make a true little book. I cut some chipboard 1/4 inch bigger than the sheets (which were 4 X 6) and covered them on both sides with patterned paper that matches the booklet sheets. Then, I embellished the cover, filled in all the booklet pages that are perfect for personalization and bound it all together. I presented this to my hubby while my friends were still here. He loved it. I felt he deserved a little extra thank you for dealing with suit cases everywhere, stamp stuff EVERYWHERE, crazy LOUD ladies and time away from me even though I never "left". Each of the ladies that were here made one for their hubby as well.

There are 6 pages printed on front and back as well as the covers. I gave you a peek at a couple of the pages inside. :)

Stamps: SU Always

Paper: Cosmo Cricket (I think it is hey sugar)
Accessories: We R Memory Keepers copper hardware, Bind it all, Janome sewing machine, Prima flowers, chipboard
I have lots more to share over the next week so stay tuned. :)
Also coming soon... a NEW and fun share!

Bind It All Book

Wow, I have been busy today! :) It's been a productive day for me! I am not one of those "save them up and post one a day" type of blogging people. I am all for posting immediately! So... sorry for bombarding you with posts today.

I made this little notebook for a friend who asked for one.

I used Cosmo Cricket Gretel paper for the cover. I covered a 4 X 4 heavy weight coaster with it. I added a little sentiment for the "cover page" and then filled the rest of it with white copy paper squares.

To make the glittered flower:

  • ink chipboard with chalk ink

  • ink chipboard with Versamark

  • dump heat n' stick on it (glue powder)

  • heat lightly

  • dump glitter on top of now sticky glue powder

  • tap off excess

  • (at this point you are covered in glitter)

Stamps: Penny Black sentiment

Paper: Cosmo Cricket Gretel

Ink: dark brown chalk ink, timber brown Stazon, Versamark

Accessories: jumbo copper brad, glitter, heat n' stick, Janome sewing machine, Bind it all, coil,

Bind it all users hint: Instead of cutting a zillion squares of paper each time you want to make a notebook, go buy a ream of paper at Office Depot (or somewhere similar) and have the paper cut at the copy center. I had some paper cut into the following sizes:

  • 3 3/4 X 3 3/4 (for coaster books)

  • 4 1/4 X 5 1/2

  • 2 3/4 X 4 1/2

Just grab a piece of 8 1/2 X 11 and map out exactly how you want your paper cut. I have 3 reams of paper cut and ready to be put into books. Just cut your chipboard to match the sizes for your covers. :) It is a BIG time saver to have the inner pages ready to go.

Ric Rac Salad

A friend asked if I knew where to get green and purple ric rac. *SPEW* Ummmmm, yes let me check my own personal stash! LOL I was able to find about a dozen different rics racs in the 2 colors. YAY! I decided against sending them in a big ol' heap and came up with this idea. :) When I saw them all together it reminded me of lettuce and cabbage thus the title: "Ric Rac Salad". Corny huh? LOL

I used this awesome background stamp from CHF called LINED PAPER. I LOOOOOVE this stamp. I have been using quite a bit lately! :) I loosely bundled all the ric rac and tossed it in this clear card box. I added a band of ribbon and a quick sign to label it. I finished it off with a Prima flower.

The person who this is going to will probably see this before you get your giftie, but you can still ACT surprised ok? :) Plus you can look forward to the other couple things that will be in the bow. *wink*

Stamps: CHF Lined Paper, SU alphabet, SU set

Paper: eggplant, white

Accessories: clear card box, janome sewing machine, ribbon, Prima, BG button

Mini Treat Box

I don't know what it is about mini things, but I just think they are SO darn cute! Can you hear me talking in my baby voice again? LOL

I saw an awesome tutorial on SCS to make a treat box. I wanted to make one, but I wanted to make it MINI style. To do this, I quartered the dimensions and came up with this cute little thing. The picture really doesn't do it justice. It is one of those things that definitely looks better in person. :)

Here is the original tutorial on SCS: TREAT BOX

If you want to make a mini like mine use the following dimensions:

card stock: 6 X 6, scored at 2 and 4

patterned paper: 1 7/8 inch squares (I used 10 solid and 9 patterned)

You can use the tutorial link above to figure out how it all goes together. :)

Paper: SU choc chip, BG Stella Ruby
Ink: Stazon timber brown
Accessories: copper eyelets, hemp, circle punch, scalloped punch

Misc. Messages

KAT, you left a comment on my blog, but it doesn't link to your profile or blog. :) Please e-mail me at: texasjodylynn@yahoo.com and send me a link to your blog so I can check it out. :)

Prima share update: Primas were ordered Jan 31st and have not shipped out yet. I am just waiting for them to ship them to me. As SOON as they get here, I will work like a mad woman to get them out to you super quick. :) I am READY! :)

I *should* have another post today with a cool little 3D project for Valentine's Day treats, so make sure you check back later. :)

Have a GREAT Sunday!

Flowers with Two Scoops

I made this card to go with my swap package. I wanted everything to match, so again I used the Basic Grey 2 Scoops patterned paper.

I stamped these new, awesome silhouette flowers in black and added some embellishments and ribbon.

I can't wait to present her with the whole package tomorrow. :) YAY!

Stamps: Starving Artistamps flowers, AMuse sentiment

Paper: Basic Grey 2 Scoops, wasabi
Ink: Palette Noir
Accessories: silver brads, Janome sewing machine, May Arts polka dot ribbon

F R I E N D

This is a BoBunny chipboard book that I altered for a friend of mine. I am participating in a swap and needed to make a 3D item.

I started with some Two Scoops (Basic Grey) patterned paper and covered each "naked" portion of the BoBunny chipboard book. Then, I added sentiments and embellished it. I am hoping the recipient enjoys it. I give it to her tomorrow. :) She doesn't read my blog so I am giving you all a peek first. :)

Stamps: misc sentiment stamps

Paper: Basic Grey Two Scoops

Ink: Palette Noir

Accessories: Prima flowers, silver brads, silver jumbo brads, Basic Grey rub ons, ribbon, Swarovski crystals, Basic Grey sanding tool kit, binder rings, Janome sewing machine

Mini Candy Jar Treats

Oh my goodness, I am SQUEALING over here! These mini candy jars are SO SO adorable. I was at Michaels the other day buying some of the heart tins and fortunately (or unfortunately) found these little cuties. I took a picture of one of the jars next to a quarter so you could see how small they are. Awwww!

This took me about 5 minutes to make. It is super simple, but there is just so much you can do on a 1 1/4 inch circle. LOL I stamped a heart, a sentiment and added a Swarovski crystal. I filled the candy jar with red and white M&Ms. I adhered the punched circle with some red tape.

The mini candy jars were $19.99 at Michaels. They are on sale this week for $16.99. You get 20 in the box. I photographed it so you would know what to look for if you would like to buy some of them. They are in the wedding favor area on an endcap (near the ribbon).

Think of all the little things you can put in these jars! They are SO cute! LOL They make me want to use my "baby" voice. LOL

Ink: real red, Stazon black

Card Stock: whisper white

Accessories: red tape, Swarovski crystal
