Candy Boxes

I have some more candy boxes to show you today! This is the last of the stuff I have finished in these colors. :) Thanks for hanging in there with me. LOL I will move on now and choose another color combo to use and abuse! :)

These are awesome little candy treat boxes. They are super easy to assemble and tie shut with some ribbon on each end. I decided to make some fun, floppy bows, but of course you could use less ribbon. :)
You can purchase these candy boxes HERE.

Each box contains 8 Dove chocolates. YUM YUM!

I went with the "less is more" approach on these. That seemed to be the theme this week. :)

This is a "Bell Box". Again, it is simple to assemble and easy to embellish. These are quick and easy!

Stamps: SU "sweets" stamp, Amuse "sweet treats" sentiment
Ink: Raspberry Fizz
Paper: white, black, raspberry fizz, raspberry fizz mix patterned paper
Accessories: ribbon, silver brads, candy box die-cut, bell box die-cut, red line dimensionals, red line tape, oval punch, heart charm, black floss, word window punch, jumbo brads
Want to see my "sea" of Raspberry, Black and White? LOL Here are all the things I have featured on my blog this past several days. If you want to see close ups of any of these, please scroll back to the last several days for more info and more photos. :)

Half a Million Reasons to Celebrate!: WINNER

Hi everyone!

Thank you again for all of your sweet comments left on my "Half a Million Reasons to Celebrate" post.

Since you all made so many comments about my hubby being sweet, I thought I would share the funny verbal exchange we had shortly after I discovered my celebratory cake. :)

Me: Thank you SO much for the cake honey! (big hug) Awwwww, that was so sweet of you! (talking in a total baby voice & tearing up of course)

Him: You're welcome. Did I get the number right?

Me: YES YOU DID! Thank you!

Him: Did you take a picture of it?

Me: Yes!

Him: Did you blog about it?

Me: yeeeees

Him: (big smile) Tell them that I got an iPhone

Me: (giggling and shaking my head)

Him: Can I have a piece of cake?

LOL! I think he enjoys being sweet. :) Of course I enjoy it too! The cake was very good and it contains lots of sugar! You can't go wrong with sugar! :)

For those of you that asked, he did get a strange look when he told the bakery employee what to write. :)

Sweet Treats

Today I bring you a sweet way to package your sweet treats!

These are cute little die-cut treat bags. It doesn't take long at all to jazz them up and stuff them with candy! They only require one piece of adhesive about 3-4" long!
You can purchase these die cut treat bags HERE.

On one of them, I stamped just the front of the bag with a polka dot background stamp in Versamark ink. Then, I added a simple chipboard accent and some ribbon. It took me all of 5-10 minutes to stamp, assemble and stuff with Dove chocolate! OH and while I am on the subject of the Dove chocolate... guess what color the wrapper is? SILVER AND PINK! Cute huh? It matches! The ONLY thing I could have done to be more matchy matchy is use chocolate paper instead of black. But ya know... I had the black stuff out and I went with it. SEE? I CAN let go of things sometimes. :) LOL

The other treat bag was jazzed up a little more. Maybe that one took me 15 minutes or so! I prepared the chipboard flower, added some fun patterned paper to the front (and back) of the bag and finished it off with some stitched ribbon. :) THEN, I stuffed it with some pink and silver Dove chocolate. YUM YUM!

Gift Cost Breakdown:
die-cut treat bag: $.50
chipboard: $.20 approx
paper and card stock: $.20 approx
ribbon: $.10
Dove chocolate (10 pieces) $.70
Cost of gift: $1.70

Stamps: SU "sweet" stamp, CHF lined paper, AMuse sentiment (sweet treats)
Ink: Versamark, Raspberry Fizz
Paper: Raspberry Fizz, black, white, Raspberry Fizz Mix patterned paper
Accessories: chipboard, white craft paint, sponge dauber, ribbon, red line dimensionals, sticky dots, silver brads, die-cut bag, shredded paper for filler

Note-Card Box

Oh look! Are you surprised? ANOTHER pink, black and white creation! LOL Sorry for the torture. :) The streak continues and I have a few more to share, so don't be surprised to see a *little* more pink and black before this series is over. :) Tomorrow I will be showing you some treat bags! Guess what color they'll be? *evil grin*

This project uses Lauren's template All Boxed Up.

Again, I do not print these templates on my card stock. I printed it out and mapped out the dimensions for cutting and scoring using a ruler. This one was a bit tricky because of the diagonal cuts on the inner boxes. See the flower that I cut out and popped onto one of the inner pockets? It's a DISGUISE! :) You know... I made one of those ANNOYING mistakes and my diagonal cuts were not symmetrical. I cut out the flower from the patterned paper pack carefully and then adhered it directly over the one beneath to hide the wonky cut. :) I didn't HAVE to tell you that, ya know? LOL Again, if something goes wrong in your paper creating, TRY to hide it and move on. Don't get frustrated and walk away! Many times you can find a fix and you MIGHT even like it better than before! :) I did alter the dimensions of the box a bit. I wanted less of a border around the inner boxes, so I cut down the measurements to allow just a small border.

The cards in this box are VERY simple. Simple embellishments, simple stamping, simple ribbon placement. Sometimes it's ok to be SIMPLE. Especially when you want to make a whole bunch of stuff in one sitting. Oh and by the way... my "one sitting" lasted about 8 hours. LOL Each inner pocket holds 2 cards and 2 stamped envelopes. I added a strap closure to the box to keep everything together. It is held closed with a Basic Grey magnetic snap. Those are a must have! Buy big and small! You never know which size will work best for your project! (This one uses a big set). The strap is BEHIND the patterned paper on the back and closes on the outside of the patterned paper in the front. That will ensure that it is nice and sturdy! You'd be amazed at how sturdy these boxes are when you use quality card stock and add lots of layers. :)

Lindor Lollipops

During a recent trip to Walmart, I found some Raspberry Dark Chocolate Lindor Truffles. I was first drawn to the fact that they are Lindor Truffles (YUM) and then was drawn to the color of the wrapper. Raspberry Fizz... Raspberry Truffles... and in the cart they went. :)

I wanted to use them with Lauren's Lollipop Along Template, but obviously they are not lollipops, so I decided to make my OWN chocolate lollipops. I went to the craft section and found some lollipop sticks (Wilton).

All I did to make my own lollipops is:
  • untwist one end of the truffle wrapper (make sure to untwist the bottom so your lollipop's words are in the correct direction). Let's call that a JODY RULE! LOL
  • shove stick into truffle
  • re-twist wrapper on

Chocolate lollipops! Easy, right?

I came up with three different lollipop alongs using the template. The first I made was with the vellum. I went for a "less in more" look. I stamped some flowers on the vellum and then made a little sentiment plaque to adhere to the vellum. The butterflies were die cut with a Spellbinders die. The black band helps to support the vellum and prevents it from flopping forward. I put FOUR jumbo brads in on the top and used those to close the top with ribbon. I went with a "piggy tails" look for the ribbon and made two bows. :)

The second and third were made slightly differently. I decided to cut a peek-a-boo hole in them using my Nestabilities. After all, I was so proud of the Raspberry Truffles and wanted to show them off. :) I stamped some flowers in Versamark on the card stock. On each, I added a sentiment and Butterfly embellishment. The tops were tied shut with a ribbon bow. Again, I set 4 jumbo brads in each lollipop along (so the top could actually be opened).

A few helpful hints when using this template:

  • Make your own lollipops with Lindor Truffles
  • When assembling the base (lollipop holder): fill it with shredded paper (like for gift baskets) prior to sealing it shut. When inserting your lollipops, they will stay upright and not flop over. My first box left my lollipops flopping over and it drove me crazy, so I trashed it and came up with an easy solution. :) Floral foam or styrofoam would also be a great choice I would think.
  • Insert a peek-a-boo hole if your lollipops are pretty. :) You could decorate them with card stock or ribbons and then show them off.
  • Instead of printing directly on your card stock, print on copy paper, then plot out the dimensions for cutting and scoring and use your paper trimmer/scor pal to make the box.

Gift Cost Breakdown:

Initial Expense for template: $5

Truffles: $1.80

Lollipop sticks: $.20

Raspberry Sweets

Hi all!

Thank you all SO much for the wonderful and sweet comments you have left on my "Half a Million Reasons to Celebrate" post. They have made me laugh, smile and even tear up a little (I AM a sentimental sap ya know?). You still have time to enter if you have not done so already. I will be drawing the winner for the package of sticky stuff worth over $40 on Wednesday at approx noon. :)

As you may have noticed, I usually stamp in a "series". I have some patterned paper or certain colors out on my desk and I use them... and use them... and use them some more. After all, WHY would I go through all the effort of pulling out the paper, stamps, ink, matching ribbon, brads and everything else only to make ONE thing. It is more efficient to stamp in a series. LOL WHY am I bringing this up? Well it leads me to this week's disclaimer:

I apologize in advance for bombarding you with creations in pink, black and white. I am attempting to get a head start on making Valentine goodies for friends and family and this is what called my name. LOL The next several posts will be using the same color combo. :) I stamped for HOURS yesterday and made lots of goodies and treats and they are all pink, black and white. :)

The "Bittersweet" pink and brown series went on for NINE posts. LOL We'll see how long this one will last. :) LOL

OK, now that my thank yous and disclaimer are out of the way, let me explain this project for you. :)

I used Lauren's Take Along Tote for this project. In my LAST post, I used it as a card/notebook holder. In this post, it carries CANDY! I am a MAJOR sweet-a-holic! If it contains sugar, I more than likely LOVE it. :) Chocolate, non-chocolate, powdery, sour, sweet... I don't discriminate! Bring it on! :)

The sides of the tote are covered with patterned paper. I attached handles that came from a die that I have instead of punching a hole in the side. The pockets are dressed up with some stamped card stock and a chipboard flower. To make the flower, I painted the chipboard with white craft paint (using a sponge dauber to avoid paint brush bristle streaks) and then stamped on the chipboard with Raspberry ink using a background stamp. This was an annoying process because I didn't want to stamp the dots until the flower was assembled (so they would be evenly spaced dots), but couldn't really assemble it prior to sticking it on the paper, SO I stuck it on the paper and then stamped. I thought since it was dimensional on the paper, that the ink would not get on the card stock. WRONG! Grrrrrrrr! So, then I have this panel all stamped with chipboard attached and have random pink dots on the card stock. I have a rule to myself that I should first attempt to salvage the project, so I decided to adhere the "Sweets" panel over the majority of the dots. That covered up the majority of them. Then, I added three brads on the lower left, which took care of one random dot there. There are 2 more spots on the panel that are driving me crazy, but I decided to let it go. :) Did you find them? Upper left hand corner of the panel? OOPS! Please ignore those. :) The opposite pocket was decorated in a similar way, but that flower was whole, so I didn't have any dot issues on that side. The inner pocket was covered with paper and I attached a bow for decoration. The outer pockets are stuffed with Fun Dip and the inner pocket is filled with Pixie Sticks. YUM YUM! I closed the tote with a tiny clip from SU.

This should make a sweet gift for a sweet someone. :)

Fact: 95% of the time, I stamp first and decide who to send it to afterward. I rarely have someone in mind when stamping.

Stamps: SU, CHF
Ink: Raspberry Fizz, white craft
Paper: Raspberry Fizz, True Black, white, Raspberry Fizz Mix (patterned paper)
Accessories: My Timeless Template, Nestabilities, small clip (SU), chipboard flowers (SU), white craft paint, sponge dauber, silver brads, die, sticky dots, red line tape, red line dimensionals, score pal, ribbon

Hi all!

Thank you all for the sweet comments I have received already on my "Half a Million Reasons to Celebrate" post/blog candy. If you have not commented already, you have until noon (mountain time zone) on Jan 28th to leave a comment and be entered to win the sticky stuff package valued at over $40!

My project today uses a template by Lauren Meader. It is called Take Along Tote.

I do not like to print out the template on my card stock. Instead, I print it out on copy paper and then use a ruler to mark the measurements and dimensions. Then, I just use that as a guide and cut and score my card stock based on the measurements.

I stamped 4 simple cards to fill the pockets (2 on each side). I also stamped a flower on the 4 envelopes so they match the cards. Inside the tote, I made a simple, matching notebook using some black chipboard and my bind it all. The handles on the tote were made using a die.

Stamps: Garden of Life
Ink: Raspberry Fizz, True Black
Paper: white, True Black, Raspberry Fizz, Raspberry Fizz Mix
Accessories: Take Along Tote Template, silver brads, Swarovski crystal, Raspberry Fizz ribbon, black ribbon, Basic Grey Magnetic Snap, dimensionals, sticky dots, Nestabilities butterflies, circle punches, square punches, oval punches, circle scalloped punch, red line tape, Nestabilities, Bind it All, Bind it All coil, copy paper pages, black chipboard
