Love

This is an altered mini clipboard I made with the soon-to-be-released Annie LaPoint image: Plant Seeds of Love.

Now, sometimes when I show my girls a project I have made, I get the high pitched cooing like: "awwwwwwwww, Mommy that is SO awesome, I looooooooooooove it!"  Today though, that was NOT the case.  LOL
Here is my daughter Bailey's review:

  • It has too much stuff on it

  • The stuff on it doesn't really match

  • I don't like the button it (the brad in the hole of the clipboard)

  • How is someone supposed to use the clip board with all that stuff on it (it is supposed to be hung on a wall)
My husband's review (after asking for a second opinion)

  • It's nice

  • (then I tell him what Bailey said, to which he responded... I agree)

  • I then explain that it is actually a wall hanging and he says: I don't know about that
So there you have it... it was twice rejected by my family members, but I kinda like it.  It is not my "usual" style, it isn't something that I think is really "me"... yet I kinda like it... well I did until I was rejected.  So, what do YOU think?  I *guess* you can be honest.  LOL  I *think* I can take it.  LMAO
Here are some close ups to help you make up your mind:
Stamps: MFT Annie LaPoint Plant Seeds of Love
Ink: Memento black
Paper: Cosmo Cricket, Basic Grey, Black, White

Here is my vintage-inspired LOVE card.  This card is all about my LOVING friends!  They REALLY spoiled me on my birthday!  :)  The October Afternoon paper was purchased with a gift certificate to Stamper's Dream by my super-sweet friend, Carole Burrage.  I looooooove this patterned paper.  (By the way, Michelle from Stamper's Dream is a DREAM to buy from!  She is sweet, helpful and ships FAST!  Go check out her site!)  The lace trim came from my super-talented and sweet friend, Michele Boyer.  She knows I love ribbon/trims and spoiled me with about 10 different ones!  YAY!  The crocheted flower came from my super-sassy and fun friend Mary Rager, who sent me the mother-load of pink embellishments and some other stuff too... AND she sent me a Bella gift certificate on top of it.  Can you say SPOILED?  I also got MANY other birthday gifts from many more special friends, but I can only fit so much stuff on one card, KWIM?  LOL  I love you, my friends!  Thank you for making my birthday so special!

The image was stamped on Kraft in Memento brown and colored with Copic markers.  The center of the flowers has some crackly liquid stuff that I cannot recall the name for and am too lazy to go look for.  I think it is by Ranger.  I am sure you know what I am talking about.  LOL  The crocheted flower was colored with Copics (it was white).
Stamps: Plant a Seed of Love
Ink: Memento brown
Paper: kraft, black, October Afternoon patterned paper
Accessories: crackly liquid stuff, crocheted flower, SU brad, Webster's Pages trim, red line dimensionals, EK punch, distress ink (PTI)

Cool Beans!

I'm back today with another MFTeaser using the soon-to-be-released, Coffee? Tea?

The image is stamped in Memento black and paper pieces using Cosmo Cricket's Early Bird 6 X 6 paper deck.  I colored some portions of the image using Copic markers.  The image was stamped on white paper and then I colored the entire background using E50 and E51 to match it to the patterned paper.  The white strip on the ribbon was also colored with the E50 marker for color matching.  I try to avoid mixing white and ivory and even made it an official JODY RULE!  LOL
I finished off the inside with a sentiment from Essential Sentiments (MFT).
Stamps: Coffee? Tea?  (available 9/2)
Ink: Memento black
Paper: Cosmo Cricket Early Bird 6 X 6 paper deck, PTI white, black and ivory, SU baha blue
Accessories: SU ribbon, fuzzy brads (paper studio), Copic markers, Spica glitter pen, Sakura clear glaze pen, Chamomile distress ink (PTI)

Smile...

Here is another one of my new, cute Greeting Farm stamps.  This stamp was one of Madeline's selections.  Maddie has a t-shirt that reads: Peace, Love and Ice Cream.  That pretty much sums up Madeline!  LOL

Peace: Is a wonderful mediator and kind girl!
Love: SUPER loving, known as my snuggle bunny!
Ice Cream: ONLY Blue Bell, first choice Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, 2nd choice, Cookies and Cream... no other brand will do!  We actually put that to the test one day and my hubby insisted that the "good" ice cream (Dryers or something similar) would be just as good and she wouldn't notice.  I, on the other hand, told him that she WOULD notice and it would be unacceptable.  After school one day, he offered her some ice cream and hid the container from her.  First, she looked it at weird... then she took a little bite and made some funny noises with her mouth as she "tested it"... then she said, "I think they changed their recipe, this tastes weird."  LOL  THEN, she took one more bite and decided she really didn't want ice cream anymore!  LMBO!  I was hysterical!  Do I know my girl or what?  :)  We had a good laugh and my hubby vowed to never buy her the "other" ice cream again.  :)  If you are in a part of the country that does not sell Blue Bell ice cream... my condolences!  It is THE best!  :)

OK, back to the card...

I colored the image with Copic markers.  The centers of the flowers each have a Swarovski crystal in them.  The ribbon is by Bazzill and the clear ghost shapes are by Heidi Swapp ( and have become more and more elusive).  I used some pretty paper from Basic Grey and did not want to cover it up, so I added some minimal ribbon and called it done.  :)

Paper: PTI white & black, Basic Grey Urban Prairie, SU pink pirouette
Accessories: silver brads, Heidi Swapp ghost shapes mini and regular flowers, ruffled ribbon, ric rac grosgrain, bazzill pom pom, Janome sew mini, Copic markers, Swarovski  crystals, Spica glitter pen, small oval punch, red line dimensionals
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'll see you back tomorrow for an MFTeaser using one of the stamp sets being released on 9/2!  Have a GREAT day!

Absolutely Fabulous

Of course in the title, I am referring to her fabulous outfit!  :)  This looks like something my daughters would like to wear!  :)

Confession: I have fallen prey to The Greeting Farm stamp line.  It was all Michele's fault.  She made fabulous creations like THIS and THIS and THIS and THIS and I just couldn't help myself.  Added bonus: my daughters wanted some for their stash, so I ordered "them" some and then also tacked on a couple for "me".  Of course they are all in MY stamp room, but I did put them on the girls' desk just as a formality.  :)

This card was fun to make!  It uses one of my daughter, Bailey's stamp selections.  heehee  I colored her with Copic markers and added several fun details to her: glittered purse handle, baby-bradded boots (say that fast 5 times), Spica glittered tights and some polka dotted accessories (headband and purse) using my colorless blender.
I hope you have an ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS day!  :)
Stamps: Greeting Farm Miss Anya, PTI Mega Mixed Messages
Ink: PTI black, Memento black
Paper: Basic Grey Urban Prairie, PTI white & black
Accessories: silver brads, Heidi Swapp mini ghost shapes stars, paper piercer, ruffled ribbon (thank you again, Joanne), glitter, quickie glue pen, Spica glitter pen, baby brads (MFT Kit), red line dimensionals, Copic markers

Stop by tomorrow for another Greeting Farm creation. :)

Teacher Tuesday

No, this is not going to be a routine thing, it was just a catchy title.  :)

Today, I am showing you 2 more teacher-themed cards I made this past weekend.

These apple are very fun to paper piece because the image is very smooth and easy to cut out.  I thought it would be fun to have apples patterned with unconventional pattern types: pencils, scan-tron and ledger.
Again, I colored the black and white ruffled ribbon with my E50 Copic marker (RIP) to make the ribbon black and ivory instead.  Again, the design is pretty simple and clean (with the exception of the "skirt", but I am attempting to make some cards that would be fitting for a male or female teacher.
The inside was finished off with a simple sentiment:
Ink: PTI black, chamomile distressing ink PTI
Paper: ivory PTI, black PTI, Cosmo Cricket The Boyfriend
Accessories: black brads, red line dimensionals, ruffled ribbon, Copic markers
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The next card is pretty simple and mostly focuses on the super cute pencil patterned paper (LOVE that stuff):
I finished off the inside with some super-simple stamping and a simple strip of patterned paper:
One fun thing to mention about this card is the yellow ribbon.  It wasn't *quite* the right color.  It was a little on the bright, sunny color side and I needed it to be a little muted like the pencils.  The theme of the weekend was using my Copic markers on ribbon, so I decided to color the yellow ribbon with my E51 Copic marker to mute it a little and it worked perfectly.  The ribbon became the same exact color as the patterned paper.  Success!!!  :)
Ink: PTI black, saffron
Paper: PTI ivory, PTI black, Cosmo Cricket The Boyfriend
Accessories: red line dimensionals, black brads, ric rac grosgrain, EK edge punch, Copic markers
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The teacher card series is over (for now).  Tomorrow will bring an MFTeaser using this month's VIP stamp set!  See you tomorrow!  :)

Happy Monday!

Happy Monday, everyone!  I hope you had as great a week as I did!  I spent much of the weekend stamping and got a LOT of cards made!  WOOHOO for that!

In honor of school being back in session, I decided to ink my new PTI teacher set.  While I'm on that subject, let me give you some back story on that set.  I have always liked it, but just hadn't gotten around to ordering it.  During CHA, I went shopping in the PTI booth with Carole and she encouraged me to  buy this set (as if I needed an extra push).  LOL  So, thank you Carole for urging me to get it (and the other pile o'stuff I ended up with).  It is JUST what I needed for some teacher cards I need to make!  :)  I can always count on you to enable me.

Here is the first card I made with this set:
Note the new Cosmo Cricket "The Boyfriend" patterned paper.  Did you know they come in 6 X 6 mini decks now?  AND the pattern is shrunk down so it is great for card makers!  YAY!  Thank you Cosmo Cricket, for jumping on board with card makers and manufacturing these little paper pads.  I am ALL over that!  :)  I got my pads here and also found them here, so run over and grab them.  They are cute cute cute!  There are 4 different pads available at this time!
I paper pieced the apple with one of the patterned papers and colored the stem and leaf with Copic markers on Kraft card stock.  Teacher is stamped with PTI's black ink which is REALLY nice and crisp.  The ruffled ribbon was a gift from Joanne and when it is gone... I will sob... REAL TEARS!  *sigh*  Love it!  Thank you, Joanne!  :)   Oh, back to the ribbon... the REALLY cool thing about this ribbon is it is black and white!  Check out my card... it is a JODY RULE to avoid mixing white and cream, it just doesn't look right (most of the time), but I REALLY wanted to use the ribbon, so I used my E50 Copic marker to DYE IT!  YAY!  Just color right on the ribbon and voila... black and cream ribbon.  While I am on the topic of E50... let's have a moment of silence for my E50 marker.  It is now DRY!  *sniff sniff*  Apparently I was coloring in the white spaces on my cards too much this weekend and it is now GONE!  (darn you Cosmo Cricket for having all your papers in cream).  I now have two fallen soldiers: W1 and E50.  Must get refills SOON!
The inside of the card was decorated with some strips of patterned paper (that I had leftover after decorating the front) and this awesome sentiment:
When the
love and skill of a
TeAcHeR
work together,
expect a masterpiece.
This sentiment is SO fitting for my daughter, Madeline's teacher (4th grade).  He received his PhD this summer!  I feel very fortunate to have him as her teacher.
Ink: PTI black, ruby red
Paper: Cosmo Cricket The Boyfriend, PTI ivory, PTI black
Accessories: EK edge punch, black brads, adhesive dots, ruffled ribbon, red line dimensionals

Happy Haunting

I made this set for the coming Halloween holiday.  I am HOPING that I actually remember to give this away (unlike the little stash of Valentine's Day cards from this past year!  *eye roll*
Here is a better look at the card:
Here is the candy jar that I will fill with some fun Halloween treats for someone.  I either need to make 2 more and give one to each kiddo OR maybe a teacher gift?  I kept it pretty simple because I plan to give the jar and card as a set and the card already uses the colored image.
Here is a peek at the top:
Ink: Memento black, chalk ink green
Paper: white, black, patterned paper (name is eluding me at the moment)
Accessories: Nesties, Janome sew mini, Halloween ribbon nest, green brads, punches from SU, red line dimensionals

New School Year!

Hi all!  Sorry I went MIA for a couple days!  My 3 kiddos started school on Monday and it has been a whirlwind of school supplies, open houses and paper-signing!

My son started HIGH SCHOOL!  Oh my goodness!  He is on the high school football team and I am looking forward to cheering for him from the stands!  I'll photograph him soon and post it.  He left early on the first day of school so I missed the photo op with him!

My daughter, Bailey, started MIDDLE SCHOOL!  Again... oh my goodness!  Where did the time go?  She is SO excited about being a middle schooler and SO enjoys switching classes throughout the day and choosing her lunch from the several choices available (pizza, subs, "regular lunch line" and salad bar).  I am looking forward to the next couple years as she matures and delves into the teen years.  She is a great helper, Mom's companion and a very thoughtful little girl!  Here she is on her first day of school:

My husband has been calling her Jody Junior lately.  LOL
Madeline, my youngest, is in 4th grade this year.  She no longer has a sibling in the same school as her.  This is the first year that she did not cry on the first day of school.  YES, it's true!  Every other year she cried on the first day of school (and many subsequent days depending on which year we are discussing).  Lets just say she LOVES Mommy and Daddy and does not like to be away from us.  She is thrilled with her teacher (who JUST received his PHD) and is excited for the year to come.  She is Mommy's little helper, my snuggle bunny and a super-sweet little girl!  Here she is on her first day of school:
Here are my 2 sweet girls together:
On to the stamped goodies!  :)
I made these projects using the MFT Kit found HERE.
For more details on how to replicate the projects shown, please visit my complete, photo tutorial HERE.

Knowledge is POWER!

I often tell my kids: Knowledge is POWER! I use it as a disclaimer as I ramble on about things that I want them to know and be aware of. Some of the things I tell them are for their own safety and for my peace of mind. :) You know the things: always lock the doors, don't walk in ditches... don't give in to peer pressure... and so on and so on and so on. I think if I talked for 8 hours a day, I couldn't possibly tell my kids all the things I want them to know.

Perhaps I will use this card to write a note to one of my girls on the first day of school this year! :) I just LOVE that this stamp set depicts a studious little girl.

I used a very BUSY patterned paper in the background, so I kept the rest of the card a little minimalistic. The sketch came from Cindy Haffner's blog.
Here is a peek inside:
Ink: Memento black
Paper: white, smoky black, Basic Grey Urban Prairie
Accessories: Janome sew mini, Copic markers, SU clip, oval punches SU, MFT polka dot ribbon nest, flocked brads, silver brads, red line dimensionals, crystal adornments, clear glitter, quickie glue pen, Sakura clear glaze pen

Mommy, I love the skirt your card is wearing!

When you look at this card, does it look like it is dressed in a skirt?  LOL  That is the comment I received from my daughter, Madeline, when I showed her this card.  LOL  She did her usual, "awwwwwwwwwww" in her cute little high pitched cooing voice... then she followed that up with "Mommy, I love the skirt your card is wearing!".  LMBO!  The skirt she is referring to is some GORGEOUS ribbon that my friend, Joanne, gifted to me while we were in Orlando at CHA.  I ADORE it and am going to be VERY sad when it runs out.

The card is girly, sparkly and pink all over!  I went monochromatic pink with splashes of brown for this girly card!  I had fun digging through my stash of embellishments to find JUST the right things for this card!
Gingham brads:
Ruffled "skirt":
And pink sparkly brads for good measure:
Ink: Memento black, Memento brown
Paper: pretty in pink, pink pirouette, chocolate, white, Basic Grey patterned paper
Accessories: Janome sew mini, Paper Studio pink sparkly brads, SU punch, Sakura clear glaze pen, Spica glitter pen, Copic markers, Nestabilities, red line dimensionals, ruffled ribbon, gingham brads (Archivers)

You ROCK!

This is a card I made for my son, for the first day of school.  I'll make sure to give it to him BEFORE he leaves the house because I don't know how cool this is for a high schooler... but he will always be my little boy!  :)  LOL

The image was stamped in Memento black and colored with Copic markers.
I used a die cut for the sentiment.
Ink: Memento black
Paper: white, black, Crate paper Orbit collection
Accessories: Janome sew mini, silver brads, sanding block, curvy cutter circle cutter, red line dimensionals

Somebunny is a chocoholic and that bunny is ME!

I decided to give you all a 1 day reprieve from my I {Heart} Books card series and sneak in a Flopsey!  As a big Flopsey fan, I was super excited about this new stamp set, Chocolate Bunny

Flopsey's recline is paper pieced using some K & Co paper I found at Michael's.  :)
The general layout and concept of this card was inspired by Amy Sheffer.  You can view her inspirational card HERE.  Be prepared to DROOL!
I have had these summer sun corduroy buttons for quite a while, and FINALLY found a use for them!  2 down, 22 to go!  :)
I used my cool bow maker thingy I got HERE to make this bow.
This sentiment makes me hOppy!  :)
Paper: SU blue, black, K & Co patterned paper, PTI white
Ink: Memento black
Accessories: Janome sew mini, Copic markers, silver brads, SU corduroy buttons, black twine, oval punches, red line dimensionals, paper piercer, ric rac ribbon, amuse ribbon
A note about the Ric Rac Grosgrain Ribbon: I only have THREE shares of that ribbon left.  As soon as it sells out it will be removed from the sale page and will no longer be offered.  Get it while you can!  :)
