June Die-namics from MFT!

Hi all and welcome to day 1 of MFTeasers.  Today, we are featuring the NEW Die-namics dies from MFT that will be released on June 2nd!  There are FOUR awesome new dies that I think you'll LOVE.  They won't be released until June 2nd, but there is no harm in starting to make your list and check it twice, right?  LOL  Be sure to head on over to Kim's blog and view the complete list of participants for today's teasers.  You DON'T want to miss them.

Just WAIT until you see what some of the designers have done with the Fresh Cut Grass die.  All I can say is felt + grass die = AMAZING.  I literally have stared in awe with my mount agape over their creations.  Just AMAZING (I think I mentioned that already, but it was worth a second one).  Dies can do SO much that a punch can't.  Enough said.
Welcome to the revolutionary Ribbon RE:Creations.  You know I love ribbon... but NOW I can make ribbon out of paper.  Imagine the possibilities!  I don't know about you, but I have no fewer than 80 colors of card stock and now I can make ALL of them into matching ribbon with grosgrain texture.  Never before have I seen a die with impression lines THIS close together that WORKS.  *be still my heart*  You'll need the embossing mat set that will be released on June 2nd, so if you get this Texture Board be SURE to add the embossing mats to your cart as well. :)

When you combine this new JUMBO Ric Ric die with the Ribbon RE:Creations Texture Board, you make magic happen.  POOF... you have a replica of expensive ric rac grosgrain.  Does it get much better?  This Ric Rac is 1 1/2 inches wide.  AWE-SOME.  Is bigger ALWAYS better (quick tell the kids to leave the room)?  YES.  heehee  Again, once you see some of the things the other designers cut with this die... *swoon* denim, felt, *drool*  Add this to your list now... you need it.

This is the next die in the elements category.  Last month we brought you clouds and now we have the grass and layered sun to go with.  Perfection.  Make a scene with this fun element.

Today, I don't actually have a card made with the newest dies, so I am showing you one I made with one of last month's releases, the Jumbo Scallop die.  I just can't get enough of this die.  The scallops are SO pretty and are such an amazing shape.  *love*  I have to mention one thing about my scallops and the pattern on them.  That is patterned paper from my latest obsession love, MME So Sophie.  It has a diamond-y/stripe-y pattern on it and if you look closely, you'll see I lined up all the lines so the pattern actually continues through all the scallops.  YAY  LOVE it when I can force my paper crafting supplies into submission!

Thanks for stopping by today.  I'll see you later tonight with another couple cards.  Speaking of... I am amassing an astronomical number of cards.  I am thinking about opening an Etsy shop.  What do you think?

Paper: MME So Sophie, cream, smokey black
Accessories: Glittered Garnishes, Nestabilities, Sizzix die, Janome sew mini, ric rac, Die-namics Jumbo Scallop die, red line dimensionals

Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge #114

Hi all and happy Friday! I had some fun this past weekend with my Papertrey Ink stamps and Taylor's sketch challenge. You can view the sketch and play along HERE.

For my first card, I used Scattered Showers and Scattered Showers Additions along with some My Mind's Eye So Sophie patterned paper. You'll have to forgive my obsessive efficient use of patterned paper. I am on a mission to use every almost every piece of a patterned paper collection before moving on to the next. When I don't have any pieces left that are at least 5 X 5... I toss the remainder in a box of scraps I am saving (I don't know WHY I am saving them, but I am guessing SOMEONE will want them). So there you have it. All I'm saying... is I HOPE you like MME So Sophie as much as I do. You'll be seeing it around here pretty often over the next couple weeks. LOL Wow... I went off on a tangent, huh? Moving on...

I loved the sketch so much, that I decided to make another card using it.  I'll give myself 5 lashes with a wet noodle for leaving out the trio of embellishments on the lower, right-hand side of the circle panel.  I just wasn't feeling it, so I added a line of stitches and "framed" it with a couple brads.  Call me a rebel. LOL

I used another Papertrey Ink set, Life.  I love how it looks like canvas.  The textured paper really gave it a fun look with the solid stamps and chalk inks.

I hate it when you're sad

Stamps: Scattered Showers, Scattered Showers Additions
Ink: Aquatic Splash chalk ink, Memento black, new canvas
Paper: MME So Sophie, old olive, smokey shadow
Accessories: PTI buttons, SU brads, Janome sew mini, Circle Nestabilities, Large Scalloped Circle Nestabilities, red line tape, red line dimensionals, linen thread, square punch, glue dots

Life

Stamps: Life
Paper: MME So Sophie, smokey black, white
Accessories: Red line tape, red line dimensionals, pewter brads, circle nestabilities, big scalloped circle nestabilities, Janome sew mini, square punch

You Make Me... Smile!

Hi everyone!

Today, I am sharing a gift I made for my friend, Mary's, daughter, Rebekah.  Her birthday was only almost 2 months ago.  Better late than never?

I started out with a 12 X 12 hanging door sign.  What little girl doesn't like their name plastered on everything?  The base is a piece of heavyweight chipboard and covered it with patterned paper using red line tape.  I used a die-cut piece of patterned paper from MME and stitched around the perimeter.  The "Emma" from Meet Emma & Wyatt, was stamped, colored and cut out.  I pieced on her clothes (and thought of paper dolls as I was doing it).  The patterned paper already had gorgeous flowers on it, so I left well enough alone and added some glittered garnishes to the centers.  I made the rolled flowers using my Sizzix die (LOVE it).  I strung some ribbon through jumbo pewter eyelets and decoratively cut the ends of the ribbon.

I hope Rebekah enjoys it... as soon as I mail it.   *slaps self on hand*

I made a card that coordinates with it as well.  I used the same stamp set and the new Cloud Trio Die-namics.  LOVE that die. :)  I added a tiny Prima to her hair over the flower image.  The clouds are mounted on red line dimensionals.

Stamps: Meet Emma & Wyatt
Ink: Memento black
Paper: white, smokey black, MME So Sophie
Accessories: Heavy weight chipboard, jumbo pewter eyelets, SU alpha, glittered garnishes, Sizzix flower die, SU ribbon, red line tape, red line dimensionals, Janome sew mini, Copic markers, dazzling diamonds glitter, vanilla brads, tiny Prima rose, cloud trio die-namics, ribbon, bumpy road EK punch

  • Polka-dotted jacket created by simply dotting my Copic marker tip on the card stock.

Wonderland Inspired

Hi all and thanks for stopping by today.  I have another card using the Costumes from Wonderland stamp set.  I LOVE these cute little girls all dressed up like the Alice in Wonderland characters.  SO cute. :)
I used a teal-ish blue instead of baby blue for her dress so that she would match the patterned papers I wanted to use.  I guess I am stubborn.  If I have my mind set on using something specific, I MAKE it work... the art of submission is not my thing.  LOL

Don't miss the details:
  • I drew in some Mary Jane shoes with a fine-tipped black marker.
  • Sakura clear glitter pen on her bow and apron tie.
  • Sakura clear glaze pen on her eyes and lips.
Ink: Memento black
Paper: MME So Sophie, Aqua Mist, Smokey Black, PTI white
Accessories: Prima rose, Sakura clear gel pen and clear glitter pen, eyelet lace ribbon, red line tape, red line dimensionals, vanilla brads, Copic markers, Janome sew mini, nestabilities

See you tomorrow!

If you are just happening upon the hop, be sure to start at Kim's blog.  There are SO many projects to see, and I don't want you to miss anything.

I had so much fun with the new stamp sets.  First up, let me show you my "take" on Who's That Girl Goes Green.  When I saw this set, I thought of GREEN as in MONEY.  LOL  I was using My Mind's Eye So Sophie paper and I had purchased a fun BINGO card with my sheets of paper, so I decided that my Who's That Girl was going to be a bingo bag-toting chick with one kind of green on her mind: $$$!

I whipped out several MFT sets to make this card happen AND used some "tricks" that I think you will find handy.  I used the 7 from Make the Date.  I used the You're Lucky sentiment from Bling Bers.  See her little bingo bag?  That tiny bingo card is from the PACKAGING of a pack of mini Jenni Bowlin bingo cards.  The packaging had a cardboard piece that showed 6 mini bingo cards available, and I just cut that out and used it for her bag.  Fun trick, right?  There is one more trick that I HAVE to share with you.  I LOVE My Mind's Eye patterned paper.  Recently, I have noticed that they have added these fun little "borders" to many of their papers, which includes the brand name, the name of the paper AND a little "swatch" of the paper that is on the opposite side in a fun border type shape.  I have been cutting those off to use ON my cards as a strip of paper/embellishment.  What should be trash, has turned into a treasure.  It's one more way to stretch your crafting dollars.

On the inside, I added a sentiment that comes with the set, and to tie in my $$ theme, I adhered the lower portion of the bingo card I attached to the front.  It is the directions off the bingo card, and I thought it added a fun little somethin'.

Another set, Costumes from Wonderland is being released tonight.  It is "Alice in Wonderland" themed.  The characters are SO cute.  I actually made one card with each of the characters, but in the interest of time, and NOT boring you to death, I will share one today and the other 2 another day.  :)

I chose my favorite of the 3, using the "Queen" image.  I look at this card and the first thing that comes to mind is: CONTRADICTION.  I am a super LITERAL person, so the fact that I used a PINK rose with a sentiment that reads: "You Paint My Roses Red", is a little annoying to me.  LOL  I had to use pink though... it matched the flowers that my queen is holding... and it stands out against my red patterned paper... but I HAD to say it out loud so you don't think I am color blind (fun fact: my husband is actually color blind).  It's pink... not red... but I did it in the name of matchy matchy ok.  Don't hold it against me.  LOL

Now that I have made the biggest disclaimer ever, let me show you the card:

Don't miss the details:
  • Glitter on the queen's crown
  • Clear glaze pen on the center of the flowers in the bouquet
  • Prima flower at the end of sentiment flag
OK, let me wrap this up, because I am SURE you're ready to hop along!  Next up is a super-special guest designer, Kerry J.  If you haven't heard her name before... you've been missing out.  She ROCKS!  Be sure to add her to your google reader while you're there.

Thanks for stopping by.  I'll see you tomorrow with another Costumes from Wonderland creation.

Sweet Emma

I hadn't used the new set, Meet Emma & Wyatt yet, so I decided to make Kim's daughter, Emma a door-hanger using the set.  The same artist that draws the Pure Innocence girl drew this new character and I love the sweet, slightly older character.

I colored the Emma image in the REAL Emma's likeness.  I used a new Sizzix die I got with the new MFT Cork to create the leaf flourish.  Have I mentioned that I L-O-V-E the MFT cork?  It comes in 6, 6" X 6" sheets and is FLAT.  That is super important, because cork that comes in a roll, has a "memory" and will not lay flat.  It's SO annoying when I am trying to use a die and the cork keeps curling up.  Never mind AFTER you actually cut it and are trying to adhere it to your project...  You MUST get the MFT cork.

The rolled roses were made using another new Sizzix die I got.  I am in L-O-V-E with that thing, too.  It's SO cool.  It cuts the paper for you (duh) and then all you have to do is roll it and stick a glue dot at the end to keep it rolled.  SO cool.  Now, I can have rolled flowers to match ANY paper.  YAY for matchy matchy!

The panel that Emma is adhered to is a SU Sizzix Top Note die that I had adhered paper to heavy weight chipboard prior to cutting in my Big Shot.  The bigger panel is also heavy weight chipboard that I adhered patterned paper to.  The letter were die-cut using again (SU alpha), heavy weight chipboard covered with patterned paper BEFORE cutting.  I blinged the first letter with Swarovski crystals.  I added jumbo pewter eyelets and some wide ribbon to hang the sign with.

I hope Emma enjoys it.  :)

Don't miss the details:
  • Emma is paper pieced, much like a paper doll
  • Swarovski crystal to accent her belt and flower in her hair
  • Glittered Garnish shoved in the middle of each rolled rose
  • Swarovski crystal blinged E
  • Leaf die-cut with new MFT Cork

Stamps: Meet Emma & Wyatt
Ink: Memento Black
Paper: MME So Sophie, White
Accessories: Heavy weight chipboard, Top note die, jumbo pewter eyelets, leaf sizzix die, roses sizzix die, Swarovski crystals, wide ribbon SU, red line tape, red line dimensionals, SU sizzix die, glittered garnishes, MFT cork

Thank you for making me smile!

Hi all and Happy Monday.  I thought this card was fitting for today's post.  I have so many reasons to smile today!  Your comments about Puffle were both heart-warming and entertaining.  Thank you for sharing your stories and pictures of your puppies via e-mail.  That was fun!

I spent the better part of last weekend stamping.  I mean MARATHON style stamping.  I only came out for food, drinks and the occasional stroll around the house.  LOL

Don't miss the details:
  • Machine stitched around the sentiment panel to add interest.  At the lower, right-hand corner, I turned my paper, stitched up in a "beveled" direction, and then started the next stitched frame.
  • Prima flower rose to cover up the stitching and add some pizazz!
  • Maya Road mini pom pom ribbon... SO cute!
  • Vanilla brads in the corners to lighten in up a bit.
  • Sentiment stamped, then clear embossed to make it "pop" off the patterned paper.
Ink: PTI black
Paper: MME So Sophie, Smokey Black, Aqua Mist
Accessories: Janome sew mini, Prima rose, Maya Road ribbon, vanilla brads, red line tape, red line dimensionals, clear embossing powder

Here is one more quick card I made using Jolinne - Best Friends Always and the new Cloud Trio Die-namics.

Stamps: Jolinne - Best Friends Always
Ink: Memento black
Paper: Paper Girl by The Girls' Paperie, white, smokey black
Accessories: SU rose brads, Die-namics Cloud Trio, Janome sew mini, Copics, Prismacolor pencils, may arts ribbon

Have a wonderful day and I'll be back tomorrow with TWO posts!  :)

Puffle Treats

Hi everyone and thanks for stopping by.  I truly appreciate you taking time out of your day to come and see what I am up to. :)  (yes... feeling a little "mushy")

Today, the MFT Design Team is celebrating the Stephanie Fizer line of stamps.  We are pulling out our "Greatest Hits" and using some of our older (but favorite) stamp sets.  As an added bonus, there is a 2 day sale (good only Thursday & Friday) on all Stephanie Fizer stamp sets.  You'll save 15% on all of her sets.  The code is FIZER

When I found out this month was Stephanie Fizer month, my mind immediately turned to the Puppy Chow Label stamp set.  At the time that set was released, I was puppy-less.... but now that I have my cute little Puffle, I knew I wanted to make her something using it.

I was super excited, because this week, I just received an order from Taylored Expressions with the new Max & Whiskers Basic Grey papers AND Bloomers.  I was SO ready to be a good puppy mommy!  LOL  Puffle LOVES treats, so I decided to make her a treat jar to hold her favorite little bones in.

I ALSO just received an order from MFT, and I got my 6 X 6 cork sheets.  They are SO cool.  I had only found cork that was too thick, OR it was on a roll and kept wanting to curl.  The MFT sheets are FLAT.  I was able to use the frame from the set and stamp and EMBOSS it using clear embossing powder.  It didn't curl or anything!  I was SO excited that it worked.  This cork is a MUST HAVE!

I made a simple label to attach to the cork frame.  I stamped some paw prints in versamark on it, but they are very hard to see in the picture.

I colored the puppy similarly to Puffle.  She has beautiful markings and almost looks like she is wearing a mask.
Here is a shot of the top.  I used my Curvy Cutter to cut circles to fit on the lid of my Perfect Packaging jar.  I stamped paw prints from the set on the paper, and added a Basic Grey Bloomer to the top.

I couldn't resist taking Puffle to the backyard for an impromptu photo shoot.  I wanted to be able to show you my inspiration piece for my project.  :)  She is SO SO sweet.

Puffle stats:
  • Shih Tzu
  • Born on November 28, 2009 (she is about 5 1/2 months old right now)
  • Weighs 10 pounds

Stamps: Puppy Chow Label
Ink: PTI black, Memento black, Versamark
Paper: Max & Whiskers Basic Grey patterned paper pad, Black, White
Accessories: Basic Grey Bloomers, Cork, silver brads, clear embossing powder, red line tape, red line dimensionals, Curvy Cutter, Top Shelf ribbon, Perfect Packaging jar
