Winter Cuties - MFT VIP Time - Glittered Paper-Piecing Tutorial

Hi all and thanks for stopping by today!  It's MFT VIP time and we have a new and exciting "surprise" VIP Collection for your buying pleasure.  Previously, the VIP has always centered around Who's that Girl.  *This* month, the VIP Collection contains TWO Pure Innocence stamp sets, and the free mini stamp set that comes with the VIP Collection is made in the Pure Innocence font and contains stamps that coordinate with the 2 Pure Innocence stamp sets in the Collection.  The collection has been dubbed "Winter Cuties" and I am sure you will agree that these stamp sets certainly fit the bill.  You can buy it HERE, and remember, there are a limited number available and these tend to sell out pretty quickly.  You can get these new releases THREE WEEKS before the official release date of December 6th by buying the Winter Cuties VIP Collection NOW.  :)

First up is Pure Innocence Holly Girl.

She is  stamped in Memento ink and colored with Copic markers.  I paper-pieced her dress, added glitter to the berries, and added tiny 2 mm Swarovski crystals to her shoes for the clasps. The grown was drawn in with Prismacolor pencils.  I know it's "winter" but I wanted green grass, not snow/ice, so just go with it, ok?  LOL

Note the "stitched one hole at a time using the wheel on the side of my machine" technique.  LOL  It takes an extra couple of minutes, but I highly recommend it.  ;)

I finished off the inside using the Oval Open Scallop Doily Die-namics, which is part of the VIP Collection and will be officially released on December 6th.  The image is stamped in red chalk ink and I stamped a sentiment from the set at the top.  I pulled in more of the patterned paper from the front.

Next up is Pure Innocence Ice Princess, and I am in LOVE with this cute little image!  *swoon*

Isn't her pose adorable?  So dainty and girly... and given that she is so dainty and girly, I immediately thought of glittering her outfit like the figure skaters in competitions.  LOL

I made an embellishment using Hearts a Plenty Die-namics, Homespun Birdhouse (the hearts were designed to nest perfectly), and a MME button, which I sewed on with thread.

I stamped the sentiment on the File Tab Die-namics.  You can see some of the pink bling I used under the main image panel.  As if the glitter wasn't girly enough, I wanted even MORE bling.  :)

I finished off the inside of the card as well, by stamping the image in pink ink and the sentiment in black ink.

I got a couple questions recently about how I paper-piece, so I wanted to show you how to do glittered paper-piecing in this photo tutorial:

Stamp the "outfit" you want to glitter and paper-piece on colored card stock or patterned paper.  Here, I have chosen a pink paper from the patterned paper pad I was using.  You can see I don't bother to ink up the entire image properly.  Just the part I will use.

Cut a piece of Double-Sided Sticky Sheet Tape the same size as the paper you stamped your outfit on.

Remove one side of the liner and adhere it smoothly to your stamped image.

Remove the other side of the liner, being careful not to touch the adhesive in the process.

Pour some transparent glitter over the area you want to glitter.  I chose Stampin' Up's Dazzling Diamonds.

Tap off the excess and then burnish (rub in to the paper with your fingers WELL).  You want to cover as much of the sticky sheet tape as possible.

Cut along the black line of her dress as shown below.

Adhere to your already-colored image.  You can use any adhesive you'd like; liquid glue (sparingly), Quickie Glue Pen, glue dots, red line tape, tape runner (which is what I used).

Here is a look at everything you get in the Pure Innocence Winter Cuties VIP Collection.

If you'd like to see what the rest of the MFT Design Team came up with using the Winter Cuties VIP Collection, head over to the MFT Blog for a complete, linked list.

Thanks for stopping by and I will see you VERY soon for the next Wednesday Stamp Club.  :)
