I am a Pretend Seamstress!

My daughters have cheerleading camp this week. It is a camp put on by high school cheerleaders. My SIL is the cheer coach and asked them to go for the 2nd time. It starts today and runs through Friday. I talked to her (SIL) the other day and she told me that it was 50s themed. Because I now have a mini sewing machine I decided that I would be able to make them mini poodle skirts. LMBO! I thought it would be cute to make a cheer type skirt, but a poodle skirt complete with a little poodle. I didn't have a pattern, so I studied one of my daughters skirts with an elastic waistband in it and used the trial and error method. I am amazed the finished product even LOOKS like a skirt. LOL It was a tad ambitious, but as long as you don't look too closely, I think the skirts came out cute. I made them out of felt, elastic, a premade applique and pink thread. :)
On the left is my 7 year old and on the right is my almost 10 year old. I also made a matching skirt for their friend who is going with them, but I didn't want to post a pic of her without asking her Mom first. :)
My SIL picked them up just a little while ago. I hope they have fun! Now, since I was up until 4 am finishing their "costumes" perhaps I should go to bed. LOL
Have a GREAT day!

  7. They are beyond ADORABLE !!** I'm of course referring to your two daughters, as well as their pink poodle skirts. I hope there is a goody or prize for "best costume", as I'm sure you'd win.
Gee is there anything you can't do?!? Ha Ha Ha You put my sewing "skills" to shame :)
