Beaded/Glittered Chipboard Flower

Here is a tutorial on how to make a piece of beaded and glittered chipboard. I love sticking these on notebooks! :)

Here is the finished product. The center brad was also glittered. The brad on the right shows what it looked like before it was glittered. This is great for multi packs of brads with colors you don't care for. :)

Here are all the materials you will need:

  • chipboard shape

  • heat and stick powder (powdered glue)

  • microbeads

  • Versamark ink pad

  • ultrafine glitter (I like Art Institute)

  • chalk ink (I like Color Box or Versamagic)

Cover chipboard shape with chalk ink

Cover inked chipboard shape with Versamark pad.
Cover with Heat and Stick powder EVENLYHeat VERY lightly. You only need to heat until it glosses over. If you overheat, it will lose it's stickiness!

THEN after heating, cover with stamp and stick one more time and heat again. I like to have a nice coat on my chipboard.
Now, dump your microbeads over the shape and tap off excess.

Pour coordinating glitter over beaded shape. This step fills in any adhesive gaps that the beads did not cover. I gently rub in the glitter with my finger and then tap off the excess.

This is what your shape will look like after beading and glittering.
Now, grab a jumbo brad with a pair of pliers (I think that is what they are called. LOL) Heat it with your heat gun (don't burn yourself), for about 10-15 seconds. Make sure it is nice and hot. IMMEDIATELY after turning off your heat gun, dip the heated brad into your stamp and stick jar quickly and pull out. The glue powder will melt to the brad instantly. This works best if you DO NOT heat again. If you don't dip it quickly enough, your glue powder will not fully melt and you will get lumps on your brad. P.S. The reason my melted glue looks speckled is because it is contaminated with glitter. LOL
Now, dip the sticky brad into a pot of glitter.
Now insert your brad into the center of your flower and add it to your project.

Ready to try it? I would love to see what you make! Please post back here with a link to your project so I can check it out. :)
Have a great day!
