Park Bench Divas

I still had my Rubber Romance girls out from the card I made yesterday, so instead of starting over completely I decided to choose another one to make a card with. :)

I like to think these girls are sitting on a park bench chatting while their kids are in the park playing. :) They may be a little over-dressed for that, but in my world that is what they are doing.

I used the colors of the Stella Ruby Basic Grey patterned paper as a starting point and colored the girls around that color palette. I used Watercolor Wonder crayons and an aquapainter to color them in. I supplemented just a little bit with a couple Prismacolor pencils and blended it with stumps and gamsol. After coloring, I went in my Spica clear glitter pen and highlighted a few things like the purse handles, her flower pin and some streaks of golden blonde hair. I stitched around the focal panel as well as the patterned paper panel with my Janome sewing machine. YES, I STILL love that thing! :) I made the little sentiment panel with my NEW Spellbinders petite oval set. I cut with the scalloped oval and then embossed with the smooth oval. Unlike the "older" oval set from Nestabilities, this one is actually a truer oval and works well with sentiments. The older Nestabilities oval is more like a wonky circle than actual ovals to me. NOT that I don't like those also... I DO like them and own them, but the newer petite ovals will be my go to set for sentiments and other small, narrow things. :) The little flower brad is out of a pack from the Target dollar spot. If you go check now, they should be in there. :) They are pretty neat. You can *kinda* see the silver brad part under the tinted, clear flower but other than that I think they are pretty cool. I messed with the ribbon placement no less than 5 times. LOL I am still not 100% sold on where it ended up, but decided to live with it since hubby was ready to go to bed and my stamp room is a room off of my bedroom. LOL I used a simple layout with minimal layers because the image is so large that it doesn't leave a lot of room to play with.
  • Stamps: Rubber Romance park bench divas, AMuse sentiment (Elzybells line)
  • Paper: regal rose, chocolate chip, watercolor paper, Stella Ruby Basic Grey patterned paper
  • Ink: Stazon timber brown
  • Accessories: watercolor crayons, aquapainter, Spica clear glitter pen, Prismacolor pencils, gamsol, stump, Janome sewing machine, sponge, petite ovals Nestabilities, clear pink flower brad, satin ribbon, dimensionals

Tomorrow, I think I will pull out my new AMuse stamps and see what I can come up with!

Tonight, I need to finalize my order for the new SU catalog. I have some Christmas money burning a hole in my pocket! LOL I have been obsessing about it for days, but I just can't decide what to get! Tonight is the night... I feel it! LOL

I hope you all are having a wonderful day! :) HUGS to all of you!

Jody
