Snowy Trees Scene

I stamped the tress in Memento brown on Gina K white. Then, I used a white crayon to make some "snow" on the branches. The moon is a circle stamp (SU) inked in Versamark and then embossed with clear embossing powder. I inked up a brayer with 3 different colors of blue ink. Then I spritzed my paper with some water and THEN brayered over the image. Afterward, I used sponges to fill in some more color on the edges. I used white craft ink and lightly sponged to help give it a snowy effect.

I ripped some Gina K white to create two layers of "snow" and then used my Quickie Glue Pen to add glue to the ripped edges. I dusted it with Dazzling Diamonds glitter. I wanted it to be somewhat 3 dimensional so I stamped 3 more trees and cut them out. I am not super satisfied with the way it came out because it is not precise and symmetrical (the cut out trees), but aside from using die cuts and making a more "fun" tree, I can't think of another way to do it that would be better kwim?

I finished it off with a bow/snowflake embellishment.

The card base is scored with my Scorpal and paper pierced.

This card was made for a challenge given during the Gina K release. Thanks for the inspiration, ladies. :)

  5. Jody - great card - I don't think I'd change anything. Tearing the paper the way you did really added a great detail!

What about an acetate overlay with the trees stamped on it to get a different look. You wouldn't have to do any cutting then!

  6. This is the most beautiful card I've seen in a long time. It's really special. Made me stop and look for sure! it almost looks like there is an overlay on it if you look by the moon. Part of the trees are shining right under the light of the moon, and part of them are a bit faded out. It's a great effect!
