You Give Me Warm Fuzzies & a Liquid Applique Lesson

Hi everyone!  I hope you're having a wonderful day today.  I have a card and a REMINDER today, so read on... :)

My card uses the newly released Emma Celebrates the Season from MFT.  I just love this cute little image!  It's SO cute.  I love that the hat, boots, and hand warmer provide the perfect canvas for "fluffy things".

The sentiment is the cutest!  I stitched it on and folded down the corner just for fun.

Here is Emma with her perfectly fluffed hat, boot trim, and hand warmer.

I created the bow with my hands "in the air" and then stitched in on the card.  I showed how I did that in a pic below.

I added a jumbo eyelet to the card, and then grabbed some twine and stitched the bow on through the hole.  I secured the tails of the twine with some red line dots (which I use constantly).

And while I was showing some of the card process, I figured I would take a moment to make a PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT.  I covered this topic a while back in this blog post, but I think it's time again.  LOL  I used Liquid Applique.  Here is a picture of the Liquid Applique applied to the fluffy portions.  I then WALKED AWAY and let it dry OVERNIGHT.  You MUST do this.  It takes patience, and will... but I assure you, you CAN do it.

Because when you come back the next day and use your heat gun to puff it up.  It puffs up perfectly, with neat little "poofs".  It's even(ish), it's cute... and it looks fairly realistic.

Let me demonstrate.

Here is a blob of wet Liquid Applique applied to a piece of card stock.

Here is me playing the part of an impatient crafter, who did not wait for the Liquid Applique to dry, but grabbed her heat gun and puffed it up immediately.  It grew... tumors?  Nerds candy?  Popcorn-ish looking stuff?

Here is the difference.  There is a BIG one.  So, please... wait for it to dry overnight.  Please.  Your fluffy caps with thank you.  UNLESS You are WANTING that look for some reason.  Popcorn maybe?

Thanks for stopping by!  See you tomorrow!

  1. Didja know that if you throw glitter onto your liquid applique now that it has puffed up the glitter will stick to it.
Also, if you add flocking to the liquid applique while it is wet and before you heat it...it will puff with the flocking in it. This works best when used in the centers of sunflowers. Using brown Liquid applique and brown flocking.
