Birthday Sentiments

Hello all and thank you for stopping by. Today the MFT Design Team is taking you on a tour of all the new products being released on April 9 at 10 PM EST right HERE.  For my cards today, I used Birthday Sentiments and Mod Borders, two sets that I CANNOT get enough of.  I am in L.O.V.E.  :)

Up first is this card that uses a technique I like to call "stamp dissection".  The technique is exactly what the name implies... I cut apart my stamp (in this case, into three sections) for easier inking and interesting color combinations.  You can piece it together on your block if you want to stamp a solid color.

The three "stamps" I created are:
  • make a
  • teeny candle flame (that dots the i in wish)
  • wish (minus the candle flame dot of course)

I stamped the Mod Borders triangle stamp in Lemon Drop ink, and the birthday sentiment in a combination of Lemon Drop, Razzle Berry, and Black Licorice inks.  It was all stamped on the new Smooth White Card Stock, which is PERFECT for solid stamps.  Love it!

I popped up the front white panel to add a little dimension.

Up next is another card that embraces the use of white space.  Once again, I used Mod Borders and stamped it along 3 Smooth White panels, in three different colors; Blu Raspberry, Grape Jelly, and Razzle Berry.  I lined them up precisely so the top of each panel always started with a full "open triangle".

The sentiment is from Birthday Sentiments, and I stamped the two stamps in two colors; Razzle Berry and Black Licorice.  I accented the card with the color-matched buttons and added a circle of card stock beneath each one in the matching color.  This prevented too much of the white from showing behind the button holes and offered a more solid accent.  Each one was stitched on with a needle and thread.

Be sure to head over to the MFT Blog, where you can see what the rest of the team came up with using the new products.  Remember, you can shop for everything NEW on April 9 at 10 PM EST.  Don't forget to go comment on the MFT Blog Teaser Time posts for your chance to win BIG prizes.  Head over HERE to read more details!

  17. Love these cards. I am seriously in need of CAS training. Or maybe an embellishment intervention would be more in order. Anyway, I spend a touch to much time on each card I make. Thanks for the awesome examples to help me with my "training".
