Distressed Backgrounds

Hi all and thanks for stopping by today!  It's day 3 of MFT Teaser Time and only a few days away from the release on May 7th at 10 PM EST.  Be sure to check in on the MFT Blog for your chance at winning one of SEVEN $75  Discount Codes you can use to SHOP SHOP SHOP.

Today I focused on Mona Pendleton's new stamp set, Distressed Background Blocks.  I really love the cool pattern and all the distressed detail.

Up first is this clean and simple card pairing Distressed Background Blocks with Document It - Right on Target and Feathers and Arrows Die-namics.

The sentiment was stamped in Black Licorice and I added a couple row of pierce holes below it.  To the left I added a Kraft Button threaded with Hemp Cord.

I cut three feathers with Black Licorice, Kraft, and Steel Blue.  The background was stamped with Distressed Background Blocks using Steel Blue Premium Dye Ink that was stamped off once prior to stamping on the Natural Card Stock.  The feathers have a handy score line down the middle which makes it easy to add dimension to the feathers.

Up next is this card that includes SO many different layers.  I was channeling my inner mixed media artiste... or trying to anyway.  *wink*

I stamped Distressed Background Blocks in Orange Fizz on Orange Fizz Card Stock, then I painted over it with gesso.  The sentiment was stamped with Black Licorice and then I layered over it with a vellum circle all using Sweet Stack Die-namics.

The background is glossy card stock with Copic refill blown over it with a straw.  The dandelions were stamped in black and I painted over them with gesso to soften the colors.  I overlayed the whole card front with the Chicken Wire Die-namics.

I also sprayed the entire card (but covered the sentiment layer) with Goosebumps spray.  I love that stuff.

Along the base of the card I used the Graduated Dots Stencil and some molding paste to add some dimension.  I also strung a piece of Steel Grey ribbon across the card, under the sentiment panel, which was layered with Dainty Doily Duo Die-namics (say that five times, fast).

I have one more quick card using the new Life's Direction stamp set.  I stamped the weathervane and cow topper using Black Licorice ink on Natural Card Stock.  I created a "barn roof" using Red Hot Card Stock, scored every 1/4".  I added some pewter brads.

I stamped the woodgrain stamp from Western Backgrounds in Kraft on Kraft Card Stock.  I cut a hole in it with Oval STAX and added the Chicken Wire Die-namics underneath, which was also cut in Kraft.

I finished off the inside with a stamp included in the stamp set and the Western Backgrounds woodgrain stamp.

You can buy this stamp set and any of the new products on May 7 at 10 PM EST.  Be sure to check the MFT Blog to see what the rest of the team has come up with today.
