Peek-a-Boo Dies & Tutorial

Hi all and thanks for stopping by today!  The MFT Design Team has been challenged to use any of the MFT peek-a-boo style dies for this month's Creative Challenge.  Be sure to check out what the rest of the team came up with HERE on the MFT Blog.

I've been in a Halloween mood and wanted to use one of the FIRST peek-a-boo dies we released, Peek-a-Boo Squared. I used the Trick or Sweet stamp set for the background and sentiment, which was stamped on a piece from School Days.

I knew I wanted to use several Halloween colors, so I found some that worked well together and used one of each.

I accented 3 of the holes with the spider from Paper Bag Peek-a-Boos.  The tiny size worked PERFECTLY.

Before I move on to the next card, I want to show you how I created this card.

Stamp the Halloween definition stamp on  the background with Versamark.

Add a strong adhesive around all the edges and in the middle of the backside of your die cut.

Put a piece of cheesecloth or gauze over your adhesive.

Trim it down and ensure that all loose threads are stuck on your adhesive.

Stamp the sentiment on the die cut.

Use a clean die cut for a "placement tool" and adhere it to your card base. (permanently)

Adhere the colored die cuts in the holes of the Peek-a-Boo Squared die cut.

Adhere flag on die cut as shown.

Using dimensional adhesive (I used White Boosters from the Sticky Stuff Store) to adhere the decorated die cut in place over the die cut you adhered to your card base.  They need to line up exactly.

Adhere the spiders using a tiny piece of foam tape.  I used the red line dimensionals from The Sticky Stuff Store.

My next card uses one of my absolute favorites, Peek-a-Boo Dots. I cut it from a piece of Smooth White Card Stock and popped it up over a Kraft Card Base. Only under the dots, I added a strip of Lemon Drop Card Stock, to tie in the beautiful Splendid Sunflower.

I popped up the Smooth White layer to add depth and dimension to the card. The flower was stamped with Lemon Drop ink, and the center was stamped with Kraft and Hot Fudge inks.  The leaf is Gumdrop Green.  I used a sentiment from Sending Thanks, stamped in Hot Fudge.

Be sure to head over to the MFT Blog to see what the rest of the team came up with for this fun challenge.
