Dare to get Dirty!

This week the Splitcoaststampers dirty dozen past and present are hosting "dare to get dirty". It is a week full of challenges! I love challenges to get me stamping. It's like a list to me... and I LOVE my lists. (yes I am one of THOSE that have lists everywhere... heehee) You can read more about the dare to get dirty event HERE.

I decided to tackle a challenge by Julie tonight. It was to make a clean, white card. THAT is a challenge for me. I had to fight the urge to go wild with embellishments and layers.

My first step was to stamp the flower. Then, I chose a sentiment from Verve and stamped that. I was sitting there staring at it thinking... no... this cannot be all I do! LOL So, I grabbed my sewing machine and stitched some crazy lines of white stitches. Ahhhh, getting better! Hmmmm, a button... yes, a button to hide my starting and ending point from sewing. I NEVER leave a button naked, so I slipped a piece of black hemp in there. Then, in a moment of weakness I grabbed by ink splattering air art tool and gave the sentiment a few spurts of ink to tie in the yellow on the flowers. Oh ya... speaking of the yellow portion of the flower... I used a scraper thingy to make some texture in that portion of the flower. That part of the flower is supposed to be fuzzy and I wanted to achieve that look by distressing the paper a little bit.

There it is! Simple, lots of white showing. Challenge: CHECK! :)

I am looking forward to participating in more of these this week! My card stash is sadly bare!

Have a great day and give this challenge a shot! Read all about the challenge HERE.
