Distressed Baja

Here is another card I made for this week's dare to get dirty challenges on SCS!

I was asked by my friend Jen (genie1314) to make a sample for her challenge and this is what I came up with. It is made from her card sketch. I love card sketches because it gives you a starting point. Just choose your images to fit the panels, choose some colors and start stamping. She also hosts a weekly sketch challenge on her blog. You can check out this week's blog challenge by clicking HERE.

This card uses 2 background stamps on the background and 2 background stamps on the back layer. The 4 square pieces were created by stamping in Versamark and clear embossing. Then I created a color wash with reinkers and water and brushed it over the embossed images. The same was done for the front panel. Always start light and add more reinker to your mixture if needed. I distressed the edge of everything, adding some stitching, fab ruffled ribbon and a couple dew drops on the corner of the focal panel. I decided at the very end to highlight the sentiment square panel by placing a flower under it to draw your eye to it. It was feeling very symmetrical and I was trying to break up the symmetry a bit. All the layers are popped up using black dimensional boosters.

Stamps: SU Fresh Cuts, CHF ledger, SU french script, CHF grid, Hero Arts Diamonds

Ink: baja breeze, white craft, versamark

Paper: baja breeze, black, PTI white

Accessories: ruffled ribbon, paper distresser, clear EP, dew drops, black dimensional boosters, flower, Janome sewing machine, sponge
