Monochromatic Kiwi

Sorry for the Kiwi obsession! At least I have moved on from Mr. Sock Monkey (for now). :)

This is another card made for the dare to get dirty challenge. This challenge was hosted by Lauren Meader. It is a monochromatic color scheme. I would have liked to pull in other greens, but they were fighting with kiwi and I was dead set on using it, so... I went with one color! :)

I stamped the image on watercolor paper. Then, I stamped notebook paper BG by CHF lightly in the background. To achieve this effect, simply ink up your stamp and then stamp on some scratch paper before you stamp it where you want it. I have also this referred to as "generational stamping". When I grabbed my watercolor paper, I saw some thick clear sheets from accucut that I bought at the LSS. I decided that since I couldn't pull in any other colors, I would use the clear panel as a layer. I needed something to add embellishments to and layer with and this was the perfect choice. I cut it with my guillotine cutter and then removed the protective liner. The floral panel was stitched and then popped up on the clear panel using black dimensional boosters. The sentiment (PTI) was stamped on linen vellum (PTI) and then stitched on the clear layer. I was VERY scared to break the needle on my sewing machine, but it worked fine. I chose the sentiment to tie in the stitching... or was it the stitching to tie in the sentiment. LOL My card still seemed a little bare, so I added a Prima flower BEHIND the clear panel. In the center of the flower (on the front of the card) I added a button. It was purchased at Walmart in the sewing section. It has a little loop on the back. I punched a hole in the clear layer and card stock so the loop could stick through and a glue dot held it securely in place. I know technically I added a little bit of brown, but I wanted some bling and this had green in it. :)

I hope you have a great day! Go stamp something! :)
