Hi, it's me...

I made this card using the Pure Innocence stamp set: Heart Stripes.  She is just SO cute. :)

She is stamped in Memento black and colored with Copic markers.  I added some Sakura glaze pen to her barrette, the hearts on her pockets and her boots.  I used some fun lace trim that I got at Hobby Lobby.  The burlap flower is by Prima.  The sentiment was embossed with clear embossing powder to make it POP.

I even finished off the inside with the image stamped in Versamark on Creamy Caramel card stock and the sentiment stamped in black ink.

Stamps: Pure Innocence Heart Stripes (MFT)
Ink: Memento black, Versamark
Paper: White caramel, black
Accessories: black brads, Burlap flower (Prima), Sakura clear glaze pen, lace trim Hobby Lobby, Janome sew mini, Copic airbrush, red line dimensionals, fuzzy black brad, paper piercer, clear embossing powder

Pure Innocence Fairy Girl

I used a FREE mushroom template from MFT to create the mushroom on the front of this card.

I kept it pretty "scrappy" except for a stamped sentiment on the front.

I decorated the inside with a stamped image from the Pure Innocence line: Fairy Girl. I colored her with the same color palette as the patterned paper. I added some shimmer to her wings, wand, and shoes using a Sakura glitter pen in clear. The shirt was paper pieced.

I created this for the Wednesday Stamp Club, which is hosted in the MFT Forum on SCS! You can read about it HERE.

Stamps: Fairy Girl
Ink: Memento black
Paper: My Mind's Eye Bloom and Grow, white, brown, caramel
Accessories: circle punch, mushroom template, copper brads, edge punch (EK), Janome sew mini, Copic markers, Sakura clear glitter pen

I was SO excited to stamp with this set. I love movies, I love popcorn, I love candy, I love soda... what more could I ask for? I started by stamping my image in Memento black and coloring with Copic markers. I decided to paper piece the couch using some SU patterned paper I had. There were a couple small pieces, but it was reasonably easy to do. After paper piecing, I stamped, colored and cut out only the popcorn and adhered that OVER my couch paper piecing. I decided to make my bowl GLASS, so after the paper piecing was in place, I went over the bowl with a Sakura Glaze Pen to give it the shine I needed, which distinguished it from the couch.

I even finished off the inside of the card with some cute accessory images that come in the set.

As I was working on my card, I decided I was going to make some fun things to go with it and asked my hubby to run to the store to get me some "movie candy"... you know... the overpriced stuff that comes in a box, but has LESS candy in it that "normally" packaged candy? LOL Thankfully, he was able to get it at Walmart for $1, instead of at the movies for $3. As I was rambling off my list to him, he suggested that if the set was called Chick Flick, I should definitely include some Kleenex in my gift set. I love that man. SO clever! :) I guess you now know that I cry during movies. Confession: I am a sappy girl. I didn't just want to throw some Kleenex in, so I decided to make a Kleenex sleeve instead.

Kleenex sleeve directions:
  • Cut card stock to 6 3/4 X 4 1/4
  • Score at 3/4, 3, 3 3/4, 6
  • Adhere ends together
  • Decorate as desired
  • If your mini Kleenex pack is too big for these measurements (mine was a tight fit), use the following dimensions instead: cut card stock to 4 1/4 X 7 1/2 and score at 1, 3 1/4, 4 1/4, 6 1/2. If I was making this again, I would use these dimensions.
No chick flick is complete without popcorn, so I made a popcorn sleeve that holds 2 standard-sized microwave popcorn packages.

Isn't the sentiment adorable? I just love it.

Popcorn sleeve directions:
  • Cut card stock to 4 1/2 X 10 1/2
  • Score at 1, 4 3/4, 5 3/4, 9 1/2
  • Adhere ends together
  • Decorate as desired
  • If for any reason, your popcorn bags don't fit using the dimensions above, simply adjust the score lines/paper length as needed.

Are you ready to POP on over to your next stop on the hop? (Pun intended LOL) POP (yes, really... I used the same pun twice in a row... I can't help it LOL) on over to Melody's blog! I am certain she will have something jaw-dropping gorgeous to show you... she ALWAYS does. :)

Stamps: Chick Flick
Paper: White, Smoky Black PTI, SU patterned paper
Accessories: Janome sew mini, Copic markers, Sakura Glaze Pen (clear), silver brads, silver baby braddies, yellow polka dot ribbon (source unknown), Nestabilities, red line dimensionals and dimensional dots, red line tape, Quickie glue pen (for paper piecing), circle punches

.....................................................................................................................

Question of the day: Since we are on the subject of chick flicks, I MUST ask you... What is YOUR favorite chick flick? You know... so quirky it makes you laugh... so sad it makes you cry... so sweet it makes your teeth hurt... LOL You can list one or more if you can't decide upon one favorite!

I'll go first. :) I have a STACK of chick flicks in my stamp room. I LOVE watching listening to movies while I stamp. There are some that I am surprised have not been worn out from all the times I have watched them. LOL Here is my "short list" of favorite chick flicks:
  • Made of Honor (LOVE this one)
  • The Proposal
  • The Break Up (kinda ironic that I listed those after one another LOL)
  • Sweet Home Alabama
  • P.S. I Love You
  • The Lake House
  • The Holiday
  • New in Town
  • Just Married
  • 13 Going on 30
  • And if you want to cry and ruin your stamping experience... The Notebook
OK, YOUR turn. :)

Magical Day

This is one of my most FAVORITE images from the past MFT release, Fairy Girl.  She is SO sweet and SO fun to color!

Stamps: Fairy Girl Pure Innocence MFT
Ink: Memento Black
Paper: aqua mist, smoky black, white, purple (lavender lace I think), PTI aqua patterned paper
Accessories: Su ribbon, silver brads, Copic markers, Quickie glue pen, clear glitter, red line dimensionals, Cuttlebug folder, Nestabilities, Sparkly Fluff

................................................................................................

Question of the day: Glitter... is it used in your stamp room?  Are you brave enough to have it flying all over your entire work space, transferring to your hands, face and clothing... only to be transferred yet again to other members of your family... never to be fully removed after merely opening the lid of the jar?  If you don't use glitter, what alternative do you prefer?  Lets hear from all the sparkly (AND non-sparkly) sisters. :)

Pure Innocence Gift Set

It makes me SO happy when kids appreciate crafts! My daughter, Madeline, has a friend named Meg, who takes an interest in my card & gift making. When she is over at our house and I am in my stamp room, I'll often catch her peering in and she always has nice things to say about my projects (so sweet). When Madeline received a birthday party invitation from her, I decided to make part of her gift.

I started with a clear card box and added a band around it, as well as a decorative panel for the front. Inside, I added 4 cards (all different), plus 4 envelopes, so she can send out letters to friends or family. I know she likes to do this, because one time, Madeline received a letter in the mail from her. LOL (she lives 1/2 mile away)

I was in pink, black and white mode and decided to continue on and make her some personalized wooden blocks spelling out her name. Of course I used my favorite alphabet, Bling 'bet, and some (and by some, I mean over 50) Swarovski crystals.

After those were done, I figured I would make a tag for the gift bag. And YES... I used REAL Swarovski crystals. (note to self: order more crystals ASAP)

Here is her gift, all jazzed up and ready to go. I even stamped her name on the envelope to keep it all matchy-matchy.

Paper: Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink, Black, White, SU patterned paper (retired pack)
Accessories: Copic markers, Copic airbrush, Swarovski crystals, SU ribbon, silver brads, paper piercer & mat, Tag die, black chipboard, cuttlebug folder, red line dimensionals, red line tape, various punches, Nestabilities, heart ghost shape

Thank for your responses for the last question of the day. I got some good ideas and am ready to stuff my stockings. :)

Today's question of the day is: With school letting out soon for Christmas break, what are some activities that you plan to do with your kids to keep them entertained?

I'll go first. :)
  • Take them to The Bouncing Place. It is a business that has a bouncy house, obstacle course and slide in it. The kids go crazy jumping and always have fun with the other kids that are there.
  • Bailey and Madeline's Cozy Christmas Party. The day after school lets out, we will be hosting a party for the girl's friends. We will watch Christmas movies, play games, do Christmas crafts and have a stocking exchange. I have committed to 12-8 (if you would have seen their puppy dog eyes, you would have said yes, too) so we have a full day of festivities to prepare for. It should be fun!
  • Go to the theater. I think Alvin & The Chipmunks is on the agenda...
  • Sleepovers are sure to be in my future...
I am getting tired just thinking about all those things. LOL OK... your turn. :)

Flurry of Love

Hi all! Can you believe we have had 2 days of snow in the past 7 days? I live in the southwest! What in the world is going on? LOL Snow days are not something my kids are accustomed to, but they thoroughly enjoyed their short week last week with TWO snow days where school was cancelled. Fun times! :)

As the snow began to melt away, I started thinking of ways to prolong that powdery snow... then I remembered a super fun product I purchased a couple years ago: Snow Polymer! Add that to a super cute Pure Innocence stamp set, Flurry of Love, and you have a super fun "snow" project that makes a great gift!

My inspiration for this project was the white snow laying on the ground outside, but this project was made possible by SNOW POLYMER. Don't know what it is? Click HERE to check out the product and see the little "video" that shows what it does. You MUST get some to play with. It is fun for kids of ALL ages! :) It is a white, powdery substance that when combined with water, expands to 40 times it's original size. The reaction happens in just a couple seconds and it is SO fascinating. My kids LOVE it! I usually go to my kid's classrooms and let the class make some. It's always such a hit and the kids ooh and aah. SO worth it! I bought the one pound jar several years ago and it has lasted for quite a while. I am running low for this year, so I just placed an order for another pound. One pound will go a long way and will be plenty to play with and share. I have a coupon code for free shipping if anyone is interested and wants to get some (please note I am not affiliated with Educational Innovations and am not being compensated for sharing this info):
Use coupon code HG09 on your next purchase, and receive free shipping for orders over $25.00. This coupon is valid only for prepaid orders placed on our website, www.teachersource.com and cannot be combined with any other offer. Free shipping offer is available in the continental United States and only applies to standard shipping. To ensure your order arrives in time for Christmas, we suggest you place your order before December 15, 2009.

For all international orders or anyone shipping outside of the 48 contiguous states, please use coupon code INHG09 for 8% off your entire order totaling over $25.00! (This is approximately equal to the savings of domestic free shipping coupon.)

Offer Expires: December 20, 2009

To start, I made pre-portioned (1 tsp) baggies of snow polymer. I used tiny jewelery bags available at Walmart for this. I decided to use my MFT Perfect Packaging jar to house the snow polymer "kit". The jar was decorated with scalloped white card stock and a label I made using Flurry of Love (which is currently sold out, but you could use THIS one instead). On the lid, I spelled out SNOW using Alpha Dots and embellished with a Heidi Swapp ghost shape snowflake. In the jar, I placed the baggies of snow polymer and a little poem/directions that I wrote myself. PLEASE don't laugh, but here it goes: *blushing*

Sending you a flurry of love!
This jar holds something magical.
You will smile and squeal with delight.
It's something that most everyone enjoys...
Either to play in or relish the sight.
To start the fun, the process is quite simple.
Just add 1/4 cup of water to the magic dust,
and by the count of three, you'll be done.
To have a White Christmas, this is a must!

Merry Christmas and may your flurries be many!

With Love,
If you'd like this in PDF form, it will be available from MFT in traditional, MFT font. I will update you when it is available and let you know where to find it. There will also be a project sheet PDF to help you along.

I made a matching card to go with the jar. The image was stamped in Memento black and colored with Copic markers. I used my new Copic airbrush to make the wispy blue shadowing around her. The hat and cuff of her boots were embellished with Sparkly Fluff, which is SO cool (flock with tiny strands of glitter in it). I added Martha Stewart tinsel glitter to the snow on the ground and Dazzling Diamonds glitter to the snow that is falling. The sentiment was stamped in black and clear embossed to make it POP off the patterned paper.

I am looking forward to sending off this snowy gift and look forward to making a couple more. This would make a GREAT gift for someone who lives in an area where there is not typically snow. Who am I kidding? This stuff is COOL! It is good for ANYONE! LOL

.......................................................................................................................................

Yesterday, we discussed the crazy things kids put on their Christmas lists. Many of you had some funny stories about your kid's lists! I can definitely say I am in good company! :) You'll be happy to know that I went and bought a couple accessories for my daughter Bailey's cash register today. Guest checks (for when she wants to open a restaurant), little price tags (for her retail shop), zippered money bags (for when we need to empty the cash register of REAL cash and let Mom hold it when friends come over AND for holding the fake money when the real cash is in use). I am thinking that should provide her with countless hours of cash register fun! Thank you to everyone who shared your stories with me! Here are a couple of my favorite Christmas wish list stories:

Super cute card, Jody!!
My 8 yr-old son's wow item on his list this year (and last year) was a shed. Yep, a shed. He even said he'd worked it out with his great-grandpa to have electric wired to it for the heater he'd requested on his other list to Santa. Sheesh! My little boy is wanting a man cave at age 8.
Thanks!

My 9 year old daughter wants a bow for archery hunting...and the list says specifically 'a cool one like dad's - not a toy' LOL - We're still thinking about it. She did get her first deer this year, so there's no doubt she'd want to try bow hunting. :)

Great card! My son wants a Claw machine--you know those machines found in store lobbies that have a claw hand and you have to try to pick up a stuffed animal. His version picks up candy. Why does he want one you ask? So he can make money. Yes, I get the privelege of buying him the machine and the candy and then I have to buy it AGAIN from him when I use the Claw. Did I buy it? No, but I convinced his aunt to get it!!

Thank you ALL for sharing your stories! I enjoyed reading them!

Today, let's talk about Christmas stockings. One of my kid's favorite things about Christmas morning is getting to rifle through their stocking. SO many fun little things packed in a small space. :) This year, I'd like to find some new and interesting things to put in there, so:

Question of the day: What are some of your favorite items to put in your children's stockings? Leave your response below.

Some of my favorites are:
  • lip gloss
  • Littlest Pet Shop toys
  • Pixos refills
  • fun hygiene items (shaped soaps etc)
  • gift cards in small amounts

Little Miss Thang!

I made this card using Kraftin' Kimmie StampsMichele hooked me on them!  This girl is so cute with her little rag dolls.  :)  I thought this Bella sentiment was fitting since she's all dolled up in her pretty dress and lush curls. :)

The image was stamped with Memento black and she was colored with Copic markers.

I hope you all are having a GREAT December!  Monday will mark another shopping day for me.  My kids have quite the lists this year.  LOL  I can usually predict what will be on my kid's Christmas lists... but this year I was in for a couple surprises... first of all, this is the FIRST year that my daughter, Madeline did not include a mini fridge on her list.  Mind you, she is nine... and is not allowed to eat or drink in her room.  LOL  I think she has been including that for about 4 years.  LOL  This year, her list is full of board games, DSI games, Wii games... oh my!  My daughter Bailey wins the "prize" this year for the most original gift request.  Ready for this?  She wants a cash register... not a toy one... not just a box, but a REAL, working cash register that prints out receipts and everything!  LOL  Did you know you can get one at Staples for $99?  It meets all the qualifications (that she had) and it's real.  LOL  So, I bought it.  It has been ordered and will be delivered to my local Staples any day now.  I plan to fill it with some change and some dollar bills and I am sure she will be THRILLED.  I will also be buying her some FAKE money so that when friends come over, they are not playing with real money.  LOL  I think this will be just what she needs to complete her store.  :)  She often has a spa, pet store, movie theater... you name it.  I am sure it will get lots of use!  Now that you all probably think I am CRAZY for buying my daughter a real cash register, let me ask you this:

Question of the day: What is the craziest thing on YOUR child's Christmas list and will you buy it for them?  :)  Post your response below.  I am looking forward to reading your responses and seeing if I am in good company.  *wink*

Stamps: KKS, Bella
