Peace on Earth - WSC 46

Hi all and thanks for coming by my blog today.  I have a card for this week's My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club Sketch Challenge #46.  I can't believe it's been nearly a year, and I haven't missed a single sketch!

I have been stuck on the vintage-esque feel since I completed the MFT DT Creative Challenge a couple weeks ago, so I figured, "Why fight it?" and made another card in that style.

I mixed about a zillion different sets and dies (ok, that was an exaggeration, but it was quite a few anyway) to create this card.

I just can't get enough of stamping this Santa from Inspired by Christmas on kraft card stock and leaving him uncolored.  I like the contrast of the cream stitches against the kraft paper.  I added some copper brads to the panel as well.  And while I am at it, since it's been a while since I have posted a "Jody Rule", let me make this one official:
  • When using browns, use copper brads
  • When using blacks, use pewter, silver, or black brads
  • Never use gold brads LOL (OK, I"ll keep that one a personal rule, as I can appreciate them on OTHER people's cards at times).
I'll disclaimer by saying that there COULD be an occasion where you could stray from this, but generally speaking, that is how I handle metallic brad usage.  (I'm a left-brained stamper for those of you who don't know me well LOL.)

The sketch called for a flower, but I switched it up by making a very layered embellishment instead.  Decorative Doily Duo + Christmas Ornaments Die-namics (which I am in super-love with) + By the Numbers Die-namics + Holly Leaves and tiny green crystals to adorn them.

The upper-left corner was looking lonely, so I used two tiny tags from the Christmas Ornaments Die-namics set and stamped them with tiny snowflakes from the coordinating stamp set, and then adhered them with 2 tiny copper brads.  Have I mentioned that I am in love with that tiny tag?  And it makes me coo?  OK, as long as I have made that clear... LOL

Here is a peek inside.  I used another image and sentiment from Inspired by Christmas and adorned it with the Crown Border Die-namics and studded it with more copper brads.  I don't generally add brads inside a card, but this one needed them.

Remember, you can get all the details by visiting the MFT Blog and the MFT forum on SCS (look for the most recent WSC thread).  You'll need to upload your card in the SCS gallery using the keyword shown on the sketch. You will have the chance to win up to $20 in MFT money. One winner is chosen at random each week!

Go get sketchy with MFT!
