Morphing Elvis into a friendship book

It's color challenge day on SCS and I decided to make something 3D for the challenge instead of a card. I am stuck on 3D items right now. :)

I was browsing Walmart yesterday and saw a gift card display near the checkout. I was drawn to some Elvis gift card holder tins that I saw. I had another *light bulb* moment. It was VERY painted, but was "flat" with no metal embossing. I bought all they had (about 10) for $.88 each. You can't beat that!

You MUST check back later for my "Elvis" tin tutorial. I will show you how to take the Elvis out of the tin. LMBO! (I am serious though, tutorial coming later today) :)

I prepared the tin (will show you how with my tutorial later). Then, I sponged timber brown stazon on the tin to age it a but and pull in the chocolate color. I cut pieces of card stock to fit inside the tin and for the cover. Then, I rounded the corners with a yellow colored corner rounder I purchased from walmart. I stamped flowers from my Stampin Up set, "Petal Prints" and then stamped a sentiment on each piece of white card stock. I stamped linen on each piece of white. I only inked up my linen stamp twice for all 10 pieces. Then, I used my sponge to ink all the edges of the white in chocolate chip. To make the accordion portion of the book, I laid out all the chocolate pieces of card stock on my table. Then, I put a piece of tape along the center of each piece. I spaced them evenly and taped down some awesome ribbon that matches cool Caribbean perfectly. (to get some of that ribbon, feel free to join my ribbon share. Details are in the post below) After I had all the ribbon taped down, I matted the cool Caribbean card stock over the ribbon, centered on the chocolate chip piece. Then, I added my stamped piece of white on the pieces of cool Caribbean card stock. I left a little bit of ribbon on both ends to make a bow closure. I folded it up, added tape to the back panel and then taped it inside the box (use strong adhesive). Now, tie the bow. For the cover, I stamped the flowers from Petal Prints, a sentiment from Penny Black and embellished with some paper piercing, sponging, ribbon, hodgepodge hardware and a cute little butterfly charm. I am a HUGE fan of making friendship books and this is one of my favorites. :) If you have any questions, please feel free to leave a comment with your e-mail address and I will get back to you asap. :)
