Thank You - Typing Teacher

Our MFT Design Team Creative Challenge is a monthly feature, where we are challenged to explore our creative side using a specific theme, product, or technique. This month we are creating around the theme of "Teacher Appreciation".  Be sure to check the MFT Blog for a list of all the designers who have taken the challenge.

My kids are at an age where the traditional apples and pencils are a little "elementary" (pun intended).  LOL  With my youngest being in Middle School and my oldest being in High School, we need gifts that are specific to certain subject areas.  My youngest daughter loves her keyboarding teacher, so I decided to make a gift set perfect for her subject of expertise.

The card uses Just My Type.  I kept it nice and simple, opting for a bolt color combo.  Some stitching and the Simply Scallops Border give it a touch of class.  I created the bow using my Bow Easy.  I like to score the paper that shoots out of the typewriter for a more realistic feel.

I wanted to stay with the typewriter feel for the gift box (which can hold candy or other small treats), so I used the Typewriter Alphabet to create a sentiment. and placed it in a grid format on the top of the box.

Again, I used the Bow Easy to create a bow.

To create the box:

Base:

  • Cut to 6 X 6, score all sides at 1 1/2
  • cut along opposing score lines
  • assemble box
Lid:
  • Cut to 6 1/16 X 6 1/16, score all sides at 1 1/2
  • decorate as desired
  • cut along opposing score lines
  • notch cut 2 sides to make lid removal easier
  • assemble lid

The Just My Type Die-namics and Stamp Set is SO fun to use!

Don't forget to go check out the rest of the team members' creations HERE.

See you soon for Wednesday Stamp Club!

  13. Wow, this teacher's card/gift duo is stunning! I don't know if I'd call it "simple" lol--to me it looks quite sophisticated and so beautifully crafted! Then again, that's the way Miss Jody does it! And this project is wonderfully inspiring, tfs! :)
